As in skill of diving or just does it so often....because i gotta tell u it wouldn't surprise me if Eichel challenged him in this regard. I dont mind it though, superstars should get superstar calls.
- Sabresfan-365

lol that's funny. I was going to edit it to say worst, as in best at diving and getting calls for his team. And I guess both. Because he does do it often as well. The worst thing is that they're usually penalties anyway and he just embellishes so much. And he never gets called on it.

Well, I think that Drouin won that stare down with the Lightning without question.

There is nothing wrong with questioning authority when you have talent and know that you are right.

People have been disputing authority in this country for every generation. Why not in professional sports?

Tampa must hate his attitude when he's racking up those points in the playoffs

I wonder if they refer to it as "off ice issues."

Not a doubt in my mind, I would trade the 8th pick ++ for Drouin. I wouldn't think twice.

I do think he got drunk and overslept, missing his ride to his trade demand

Come on. Drouin and Kane are not comparable. And I am not defending Kane.

You're smarter than that.

Edit: did not mean "defending". Meant "persecuting".

One guy made a decision that had an unintended consequence that hurt the team. Another guy made a decision he intended to hurt the team.

Who's a better teammate?

It has nothing to do with who is the better teammate.

It is all about Drouin and his professional relationship with the Lightning organization.

Edit: And if the Lightning players are part of the Player's Union, I would hope that they would understand.

Are you talking about AHL teammate? Because that's why he held out, Yzerman didn't feel he was good enough for the Lightning.

Correct me if I'm wrong I recall he was demoted to work on his willingness - as opposed to ability - to play at both ends.

I don't know, either.

I have never been pampered, told that I am great, and destined for stardom in a professional sport. I guess sometimes you have to be selfish in that business.

Especially with the amount of money at stake.

I'm sure that's what it was. However he obviously was right to be upset, and I don't blame him for demanding a trade. He didn't belong in the AHL. Not even for a game.

So the selfish pampered guy from Syracuse and Florida is nothing like the Selfish pampered guy from Vegas and Buffalo. Now I understand.

I am not sure what you are saying here. Does not matter.

I honestly believe that everyone on this thread is a good person with different opinions about professional sports and athletes. And that is fine.

I am sure that in our own"real world", we all agree on what is important.

Oh, Drouin vs Kane. Again, I just see them as totally different situations. Drouin was all about business, IMO.

When Drouin has an entire time line of events off the ice, we can compare the two.

Let's just remember, he's been here for 15 months, and has already had 2.

I share your philosophy about the thread. But I'm less willing to give Drouin a pass because his issues were "all business." What happens in the last year of his contract when he's sure he's worth more than his salary? Even if he's right?

He had the NBA all star thing, and a legal inquiry that was not triggered by reporting obligations imposed on other professionals. That girl didn't complain, didn't make any allegations and never pointed a finger of blame. For that matter, nobody else said anything improper happened.

That's pretty tick tack as an "off ice issue."
