It's not just Toronto media. I've heard it said a lot of places that Matthews would have gone #2. Moog point though. In 10 years we can come back to this debate.

Ovie and Malkin had a similar thing happen. Ovechkin was considered #1 by a far margin until after the lottery. Some in Pittsburgh began to question who we'd have. 12 years later....Ovechkin is the greatest goal scorer of all time, Malkin is still top 5 talent. I don't mind having either.

I understand completely. Matthews will be taken 1st overall by the Leafs. No trade will happen. There are only a select few teams that wouldn't take him 1st overall that are very deep at center. It's very hard for most fans to look at their own team objectively, without bias.
