So, I'm guessing a package of RJ Umberger, Michale Raffl, Andrew MacDonald, and Matt Read won't get the job done. - tfsnj42
The only thing Andrew MacDonald is good for is putting him on someone's doorstep, lighting him on fire, and ringing the bell...so that when the person comes out they stomp out the fire and get poop all over their shoe. |

UMMM ... you would have to add a bunch more to that. There is zero incentive for Winnipeg to do something dumb like that. - Oneonta Penguin
Yes an 8th overall pick and a top 4 d is a terrible idea.. Other then throwing in Pitt's first that they have that is about as close to a fair trade as you can get. He projects well but could be a bust. You can't mortgage you future for a prospect who isn't proven yet.. |

A successful entry by EK. Gets everyone talking.
Canucks could offer a bunch of young players. Then when the dust settles Laine will be the only player under 30 left in the system. not happening. Not enough prospects in the system to make this move. Toronto doesn't have the D depth to make the move. Certainly not moving Reilly. Anaheim has lots of D depth , as does Phili. But the Jets system is stocked as well. They don't need to trade Laine. So they won't.
The first pick traded at the draft is more likely to be EDM at #4. However, if Trader Jim finds out that there is another long lost Granlund brother kicking around, maybe he'll move the #5 for another bottom 6 F. |

I'm a diehard Habs fan and would love to see Laine in a Montreal jersey, but I don't see any package that the team could put together which would interest the Jets. Honestly, if you were a Winnipeg exec, who would you even want from the Habs' roster, other than PK Subban, MacPac, Brendan Gallagher or Alex Galchenyuk, and other than PK, who seems to be the constant focus of Marc "I want Michel in my foxhole!" Bergevin's and Michel Therrien's constant ire, who would the team even consider trading? |

As has already been said here that pick is not being traded. Nobody in the top 3 is going to move their pick. Not because of lack of interest but because the pick is much more valuable to the team owning the pick than the team wanting to trade for it.
I can see Edmonton moving down from the #4 pick if they can pick Sergachev or Chychrun or if they get a legit top d-man in a trade (probably not happening).
I can maybe see Edmonton and Arizona making a deal. Arizona packages the #7 pick and a prospect or additional pick to move up and take Tkachuk while Edmonton moves down and probably still gets their pick of Sergachev or Chychrun. |

Winnipeg snatching up the 2nd overall is an opertunity the leafs can't pass up. Trading that pick away would require all the right positional players in return for one of those highly coveted fins. The jets have LHD needs and a particular righty who needs to get paid above his position in the depth chart.
Gardiner and JVR for 2nd overall, Trouba and one goalie prospect (Hellebuyck or Comrie)
Both teams get what the need to match there compeditive window. Jets receive 2 impact players in signifgent positions for amazing term and price. Toronto gets to ice Liane-Matthews-Marner backed by Reilly-Trouba for the foreseeable future. Toronto might need to sweeten the pot with the pit 1st round pick but this is a sesable blockbuster/hockey trade worth mulling over. |
