kid has been lethal this series. threat every time he has the puck. he had one iffy turnover. immediately riding pine/fourth line role with checkers again.

dumb in my opinion.

He couldn't freaking wait to do it. Took until the conference finals, but he finally was able to put Drouin on that fourth line again

If I am Drouin, one second after this season ends, I walk up to Yzerman and say "Still want out. See you when I see you"

But wait. I'm sure Drouin is the one who needs to learn to play the right way when you get outshot 21-6 in a period and have been outshot by 40 in three games

Me, too, because Cooper is so obviously a d-bag when it comes to him, he can't even hide it

he is so fast that guys like cole and lovejoy need to give him 4 or 5 steps of space every single rush up ice. which leads to him having great lanes for passes which he then makes.

i'm typically not one for egotistical athletes. even when they objectively have a point as i think he does. but his play on the ice is not selfish. no silly tantrums. his game on the ice (frank)ing revolves around passing. i would take him on a team, even if he is a somewhat entitled person. the fact that i dont believe he is wrong, combined with the fact that he is what i believe to be a hell of a talent.

but yeah. the double standard is sickening. i could see if the kid wasnt producing and being downright reckless. but by whatever measure you want to use. eye test. fancy analytics, basic ppg, whatever. he has been getting it done.

but go ahead. if you wanna curb his minutes so you can watch a guy like callahan go show you how gruff he can be in the corners, by all means cooper. be my (frank)ing guest.

Guys, I don't mean to question the narrative given that I didn't really watch the game....but are we sure Drouin wasn't just getting some double shifts mixing things around? He led all Tampa forwards in ES ice time.

I just want the truth!

Nah; Cooper dropped him to the fourth line after the second period. He didn't get benched, just dropped

NBCSN called Cooper out on it, and rightfully so -- Cooper isn't fooling anybody

You know, it's not even so much that, though I do dislike it when guys like Cooper smile for reporters and say "nothing's wrong" when clearly, he doesn't prefer Drouin as a player and Drouin knows it and doesn't want to play for him

Just own that poop. Don't act like Drouin's a petulant child when you don't like his game. Just move him along and be done with it

Because it happens. Every coach has players they don't like. Because they are humans, and sometimes it's like that.

Fonzie couldn't stand Ryan Johansen. It was obvious. Dallas Eakins didn't like Nail Yakupov. It was obvious. And on and on

These coaches need to own that poop and be done with it

i dont know why they would have a hard time seeing that in theory. its just all about the realistic cost. i think the time for them to move him has passed, now that they dont know whats up with stamkos. i dont think they can afford to lose both.

i think he would be worth a pretty big haul from the flyers end. id still be interested from hexys end. he's exactly what they need up front.

nope drouin coming to philly is a pipe dream but him and cooper don't seem to get along

yeah he does. but just in my own personal opinion. couture has picked up a lot of his points either on secondary assists, Empty netters, or just when the games were already out of reach.

pavelski/burns have been big time.

the secondary assists dont' diminish the fact he's a big part of them moving the puck on offense

If we look at Drouin's ice time, he played the most minutes among TB forwards with Palat and Filppula, at 9:09 and 11:07 respectively. The next closest is Namestikov at 3:41. Drouin led all TB forwards in last night's game in ES ice time. He has a minute or two of ice time with a bunch of forwards, so it seems that Drouin being demoted to the 4th line, is exaggerated. Drouin is 6th on the team this season is ice time per game among TB forwards. Seems more to me like Drouin was being moved around the lineup to help spark other lines, or perhaps the coach didn't like the way that his lines were playing, so he was switching line around looking for a spark, which is a common coaching tactic. That he played the most at ES in the game is an indication that the coach felt he was one of the best players in the game, rather than persecuting the player.
