My goal would not be just for the number 2. I would try a bigger package where you got number 2 and trouba.
Simmonds, Schenn, #18 and Sanheim for #2 and Trouba.
Something like that would be my plan - J35Bacher

Wow, that is quite a high powered list of alumni for the golf outing. - MBFlyerfan
Agreed - a lot of the mid-'80s teams' core will be there: Poulin, Propp, Kerr, Howe, Sinisalo, Smith, Crossman, Carson, Marsh... I guess I notice that especially because they were the team I grew up with. |

I just dont understand the logic of decimating what little depth you have for a pick that hasn't played a single NHL game yet and while Trouba is great young dman the Flyers do have the prospects inbound.
If you can keep one of Simmonds or Schenn (my pref would be Simmonds as he brings multiple things) then I think I would be on board but losing both leaves the team in an even more desperate state because their is nothing to say that the #2 pick peforms at the level one of those two does . |

I'd pass on that plan. Flyers are giving up two quality top 6 wingers, a top defense prospect and a top draft pick. Trouba is just not that big of a need, with the defense prospects the Flyers have, and it's too big of a price to pay. It would set the Flyers back years in the timetable to becoming a good team again.

That team... ugh. To go up against those Oilers w/out Kerr was as unfair as it gets |

Regarding the Sixers: I heard this on the radio and it actually makes some sense;
Since we still own LA's 1st rounder next year, (top 3 protected again, or 2018 totally unprotected), what if we gave them that pick back plus our 2 lower 1st rounders this year (so three 1st round picks total) for their #2 pick this year.
We could then take Simmons AND Ingram. Have Simmons play point (which many are projecting he can/will do) Ingram plays the shooting guard and the 3, 4 and 5 spots are covered by Saric, Noel, Okafur and Embiid. |

It certainly wouldn't be popular around here. At least for a while. Simmonds alone wouldn't get it done though. Probably have to include 18 or Laughton at the very least.
Ultimately though the Flyers lack anyone how can play the crease anywhere close to as well as Wayne does. Would be a big lose even with top flight talent coming back. - hereticpride
I would trade Simmonds for the 4th overall for Dubois let alone for Laine.
Power forwards tend to decline overnight leaving teams with a giant caphit and a mess on the ice. It will make no sense to resign Simmonds when his contract is over when he will be turning 31 since either he will have declined by then or his production will remain steady and he will be due a big raise with many years attached.
Since the Flyers probably won't be Stanley cup contenders over the remaining 3 season of his contract, unless you think prospect defensemen become #1 defenders overnight, it makes sense to move him while his value is high. Maybe not this season, but sooner than later. |

So when are the Sixers actually going to start winning?
Just curious when there is a start to the upswing?
They are following a proven Oilers model. |

Bill do you see them moving a prospect dman at all? how will they address the potential log jam at Lehigh?
Will they bring back Marti?
Will they bring back ALt? - rinaldo
There shouldn't be too much of a logjam with the Phantoms. Sanheim, Morin (unless he makes NHL roster), Hägg, Willcox and Alt plus a veteran will be the default top 6, arrangement to be determined. Marti will have to earn time. Pettersson really isn't part of the plan at this point. |

Weal
Straka
Alt
Lamarche
Alderson
Mathers
Palushaj
I don't see a couple coming back with guys like Aube-Kubel, Sanheim, Wilcox, Fazleev. - J35Bacher
Palushaj is listed as a UFA by GF, but a RFA by CF. Either way, I doubt he'll be back. The bolded guys will almost certainly be extended, but I don't know what will happen with Straka, Weal and Alt. But I hope they keep Alt to play with Morin. |

Drewiske seems to be well liked the the management, so I could see this being the Phantoms opening night defense:
Morin-Alt
Drewiske-Sanheim
Hagg-Willcox
Marti |

Out of pure curiosity/boredom what is Friedman worth in a trade right now? A 3rd maybe? Always hard to tell with these under the radar guys. All I know is scouts rave as about the kid. |

he was a third round pick...hes worth what someone will pay for him...but i highly doubt he would get traded for anything other than a player or added to a deal at this point |

If he was under contract he'd be worth more than that, but a team trading for him now would have no guarantee he would sign with them. |

Trade Schenn while his value is high.
Voracek Giroux Simmonds Coots
4 of the top 6. We need players better then Schenn in the top 6. Unless they think he can be the #2 Center once Giroux declines.
Id throw Umberger in the Delaware River, Trade Read for box of glazed donuts, and trade Schenn for a winger if anyone wants him.
Sign some players that can put the puck in the net. Erikson or Stamkos. If that is even possible.
If we are rebuilding we should be shedding salary like it is cancer. No point spending to the cap and barely being average.
