I'd go with
To Flyers - #2 overall pick + Trouba
To Winnipeg - #18 overall pick + MacDonald + Schenn + 2016 5th round pick + 2017 6th round pick + Read (as a sweetener) - Streit2ThePoint
And they would go with
HAHAHAHAHAHAH |

Because every time someone young is doing well, it's "trade him while his value is high" without consideration for what his value is TO YOU. If you trade everyone when his value is high, you are in perpetual rebuild. You hear it all the time and it never makes sense to me. - bodiva88
I think it coincides with the contract. After his best season, he's due for a pretty sizable extension. Leaves you with 3 options.
1. Pay him sizable extension
2. Trade him
3. Negotiate bridge deal with player or through arbitration |

This assumes we've seen the best of Schenn and it's all down hill from here. Um, I beg to differ. - WhirlingDervish
Based on what? He is exactly the player he was last year. He will never be a first line player on a contending team. I'm not saying give him away for nothing.
This team needs wingers with the ability to score. Schenn is a support player, which is important, but we have too many of those on the team. |

We never sell high though. So her point is moot. We almost always sell low.
Schenn is heavily overrated and over valued by the hardcore orange tinted glasses portion of the fan base. |

Except for the 8 more goals and 12 more points in 2 less games at 24 years old. And the 8 point swing in +- to being a plus player. An increase in PP goals and PP points and shooting %.
Other than that, yeah, he is exactly the same player. Wears the same number and everything. |

Anybody know of the last report from a GM that reported an "unsuccessful" surgery for a player? |

Well seems like he really took off once they stopped switching him from Forward to Defense and back |

You make a fair point here.
Maybe swap out Read in the initial proposal with Weal and then add Read as the backup power punch |
|
|
|
Why would you trade a power forward in his prime on a cap friendly deal who is a core of the nucleus and is a top line winger and power play producer, for an unproven commodity? PF's tend to decline overnight? He just had his first 30 goal season, you dont want to see if he can maybe build off of that? he's 27 right now, 31 is a long way away. the window for us being a cup contender can be open as soon as 2017-18, thats only a full year and an offseason away.
Stay the course, draft good young talent, keep your core guys. we will be fine if we follow Hexy. - sjk540
It's baffling how some folks overvalue draft picks. For every Crosby and Kane there are Yakupovs, Daigles, DiPietros etc.
This team does have a need in top talent, but not at that expense of core players and depth. |

So Provorov will be a #1 defenseman by his 2nd season? Or maybe Gostisbehere will be a #1 defenseman by his 3rd season?
For context Doughty didn't win a cup until his 4th season. Keith in his 5th. Victor Hedman just dominating a few season ago 5-6th season. Expecting these guys to come in and revolutionize the defense right away is wishful thinking and setting yourself for a massive disappointment. - psuhockey
So MDZ (26), Gudas (26) and Ghost (23) are all going to stop getting better?
That's a shame. |

Yep. If you don't draft in the top-5, you cannot get a good player.
Likewise, every player taken in the top-5 is a superstar. |

Schenn was the top forward for the Flyers down the stretch of the season getting into the playoffs and he was the best forward for the Flyers in the playoffs. I don't even think about moving him. |

Really? He was awful in the playoffs. Only taking runs at people ≠ helping team win. He was essentially Tom Wilson in that series, with the offense to match. |

Being dominant and being successful/winning a cup are two different things. This team isnt built like the blackhawks or kings. I agree with you that it will take time to truly rely on any of the defenders to lead the team through on ice dominance (which is why ive stated the real core of this team isnt g and jake) But skilled play from the back end is going to help the Flyers compete more |
