Also I love Timmy. He's a good friend of the family. His move to Russia was all about making money as he has two twin girls. He is coming back to North America next season but most likely in the AHL.

It has to do with the possibility that Eichel may get "superstar calls," and the prevailing belief that the games best players are entitled to a different interpretation of the rule book than the more pedestrian pros.

This is a tough one. As an official your goal is to be fair.

With teams having superstars refs do tend to keep an eye out for other teams taking liberties on star players. It's natural. The best players also tend to have the puck more so they draw more penalties.

It's also a respect thing. Rookies that run their mouth aren't doing themselves any favors. Crosby learned that the hard way.

Protecting players is good for the game but that doesn't mean they can't be checked legally.

I know I didn't really answer fully but that's the best I can do.

I will say the NHL doesn't let star players get away with obvious infractions like the NBA does with Lebron and his traveling.

It's possible as long as there are no olives.

Suggestion was Sidney is a diver, and that Eichel elaborates too. That they get calls this way - when there was no real penalty or "liberty taken" - and don't get booked themselves as often as they should.
