I do have one question for you guys... Did you agree with yanking Elliott so late n the 3rd after giving up goal 3 and not really playing bad?
- MnGump

Why leave Elliot in. That 3rd goal was bad and if there was ever a time to pull a goalie and not burn a timeout then that was it. Sends a wake up call and maybe Allen gets the start in game 4??

Do i think Elliot was to blame, No. Odd man rushes and lack of defense. A goalie can only carry you so far. In the 1st period if we had scored then the game changes a lot.

Yeah that first goal seemed to get to them a bit and then more play driven by them before that second. Did not see their normal resolve play out but that had a lot to do with the solid backchecking of SJ.

Love all beer that has flavor... Hate pilsners that taste like nothing but claim to be beer.

Bortuzzo had a really good game. Parayko again got lost on positioning or a back checker has to take Hertl there but a slapper beating you there

Going to need some more out of Shattenkirk. Perhaps he has been distracted by his recent writing efforts. Need him to play better so it does not cost him and our first to get Edmonton's fourth.

- BluemanGuruu

Shatty playing his off wing cost him but more so Parayko being overly aggressive costed us that goal. Schwartz needs to take the body on Hertl's 2nd.

Blues just need to get a lead in this series and then momentum could change.

Thats my question about the defensive pairings. Having Shattenkirk play his off side has not played out so well. But you can't leave Parayko and Bortz together. Bortz playing his off side?? You kind of need someone that can better play his off side or a natural left d on the 2nd pairing. At the same time you can't have a rookie with a 7th d on the 3rd pairing

I saw the troubles Bortuzzo had tonight as well. But i think he might have fared better than Edmundson would have.

Really? Like when? I saw him make some nice space and time for break outs. One time he faked a head man pass, glided back a bit and moved the puck up ice to an open player. He made some good timely pinches. Held the lines well.

JayBo mostly played a good defensive game tonight, but he backs in too much for my taste. Grant Pavs, Thorton and Hertl all have greta hands but they give them too much respect. IMHO what I want to create offense is soace and time and if I getnit for free super, because usually you have to earn it.

I guess we just see the game differently.

I think a few times Paryako ended on his off side and he plays the boards well on his offside on the pp so maybe it would work better with him olaying his off side. If he makes a mistake often he can make up for it with his reach except these leaving a man wide open on the back side coming into the zone things. I think he made that same play in ot against Dallas and a slap shot also beat Elliott. Not sure I remembering the time right.

I must have not been paying attention to those plays. Must have been the number of times I was cursing Michelletti.

I saw him make good plays there as well. I started blanking as they all had trouble in the ozone as that area was a point of attack for the Sharks.

They pushed to the outside in the zone when the Blues go towards the point they seem to send two or three players that way. Might be why they got those odd man rushes.

Playing on my offside never bothered me, the only time it should really matter is on hard wraps, other than that it shouldn't be a problem. lf its that important to shatty to stay on the right side do him and jbo and petro parayko pairings

Why is our defense backing up so much, our success this season has been with them standing up. We are backing right the heck up and allowing the Sharks time and space. We were not doing that for the beginning of the 1st and we were controlling the game at that point. Then we started to back off and allow the Sharks to dictate the play to an extent.

I think I remember hearing some stories about his firing from the broadcast booth. Some whispers back when I would hang at the bar after games. Hell I would hang out with a few hardcore fans and Jackman's wife would be there as well.

When I sat in front of the wives that year though man it was terrible to listen to some of their nonsense. I was not trying to listen but your ears are right there. Boob job discussions, there was Jamal's wife fretting over a vacation they had put a whatchamacallit down on that started when the olay offs began and that was what November/December time frame?

When i played d in roller i preferred my off side. That way i always had the one timer and i shot better as a righty from the left side anyway. as a forward when i was young i asked to play my off wing and the coach said no so i switched to center.

JayBo and Oetro have been doing this at least since Dallas. I get it when the gaps are stretched but they are doing this with good back checking at times.

Even Edmundson stopped doing it. But he looked like he was playing afraid to make a mistake. JayBo is the worst offender but pretty great at containing players. I wish Petro just knew how to hit a guy.

People sitting behind you are the worst, all season long it was a new pack of twits from wherever, normally ny or chicago talking all game long about their trips to wherever or how this game was so different or sometimes how much baseball rules and what is off sides.. i wanted to stab them. i guess its a good thing they now have metal detectors at the gates

I think it is hard from him in the dzone on the break out when he is pressured on his backhand. Some people have issues with it. But I am like you I do not get it. I always olayed my off side on the wing and did it in beer leagues on defense(not comparable obviously), but still the motions are similar.

Edmundson looks afraid. He needs confidence. That bad pass that directly led to a goal has him over thinking his game and worried. He looked fine early in the season playing with Petro for a few games. Not saying we should do that now. Hell no. But he needs to trust his instincts and not over think it.
