Really wonder about him. Who has info? After the trade he was supposed to blow up, but didn't. Did his play suffer or just different team/different role? Thoughts?

We'll see how it all translates, but Marner has the elite skill AND the elite hockey sense. Comparing him to Patty Kane might be doing Marner a disservice. He's that good and that smart about his game.

But let's not build up too much pressure. Toronto want to be a safe place for their players.

Gotta love it. Why bother waiting until he's stepped onto NHL ice?

Yes, comparing one of the best players in the league who just scored 106pts and is a career PPG player to last years 4th overall pick who has yet to sniff the NHL might be a disservice to the 4th overall pick.

I don't recall hearing anyone say anything as absurd as that. You never know how talent will translate to the NHL. Marner may well end up an all-star, and good for him if he does, but that's a cringe-worthy comment.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think even the player himself would laugh at that Kane line.

You mean he was the fourth overall pick in the best draft in a decade or did you forget that ? You mean the same guy that destroyed the OHL and won the scoring title? Did you see his playoff performance won playoff Mvp
and his five point night two days ago ?
Putting absolutely crazy Connor McDavid numbers up

Yes that guy

If he was our property you would be saying the same thing dont lie

When you potentially have the best draft in maybe in history this draft had everything generation type player franchise players ,first line player , etc
He is in the tier 2 group

On WGR they said they believe he is recuperating from an undisclosed injury.

I'm not bagging on Marner. Patrick Kane is a 3-time cup winner that is the definition of clutch, while playing against the top competition in the world. To say that it would be an insult to a kid putting up great numbers (and they are great) against teenagers is just ludicrous.

Then again, I don't even know who the original statement belonged to, so who cares.

It's a comparison that does not mean he's going to become exactly like Patrick Kane it means his style of play

Not really, they determined that after questioning Murray. Murray said he needs to recuperate. Only thing hockey players need to recuperate from is an injury.

No, after the season ended. Eichel said he would be doing nothing for a few weeks.

Ok, I heard that one and I guess I just took away that he'd played so much hockey that he just wanted to "rest and recuperate". Not that there was a specific, undisclosed injury.

This is really a dumb conclusion, and totally incorrect.

Ask any endurance athlete what they do on the day after their event (e.g a runner the day after a marathon). Every one of them will tell you they have a "rest day" and it's purpose is to "recuperate"

Eichel - and every other rookie - endured a much longer season than they had ever played, last year. He's taking a rest to recuperate, not taking time away for an undisclosed injury.

Maybe USA would have won today if he was playing, like the other rookies.
