This is really a dumb conclusion, and totally incorrect.

Ask any endurance athlete what they do on the day after their event (e.g a runner the day after a marathon). Every one of them will tell you they have a "rest day" and it's purpose is to "recuperate"

Eichel - and every other rookie - endured a much longer season than they had ever played, last year. He's taking a rest to recuperate, not taking time away for an undisclosed injury.

Yeah that's what I got out of it. For once someone used more words than I did. Poor choice of words by Murray perhaps. But usually with injuries they use "rehab" not "recuperate". You "recuperate" when you were out late and drank too much.

I can't figure out why STL wouldn't challenge goalie interference on the Sharks second goal. It looks like Allen is in his crease and the Shark player skating through the crease hooks Allen's stick and arm.

I guess when it all comes down to it, national pride might kick in and I'll want the Canucks to win. but as of today, I'm for sure jumping on team North America bandwagon. Plus, it's just another gimmicky tournament so it's not that's hard to marginalize it

That's a pretty great top 3 centers, and they're gonna be dangerous and probably better than some of the lesser thans in czech republic/team Europe/maybe even Finland.
But while they're dangerous in a one and done situation cause anything can happen, those big squads will probably just have too much depth.
You named those 3 stud kids; but then look at the swedes defence. Or the Russians firepower...

I ike the idea of putting Mccabe with risto and putting either Marc Edwourd Vlasic or Marco Scandella on our 2nd pairing.

They did it because they (NHL) want to showcase their young talent. And some of the guys might not make team Canada under normal circumstances(Reinhart). And they can't have 2 Canadian teams, so they're doing an under 23 North America team. I would be livid if I were Lombardi though. The young guns are poaching all the talent from the US team. No offense to Abdelkader and Stepan, but I'd rather have Eichel, Larkin, Saad, Geaudreau and Mathews over those 2 and there's still almost half the roster to be named. Seth Jones could probably be bottom pairing on team USA as well.

Say what you will about this as a meaningless tournament. The PA agreed to it, and these guys don't know how to play to not care. Same goes for management. Everyone wants to win. Look at how close the Sabres came to losing out on Eichel last year. It was all that Murray could do to keep them losing. You don't make it to the NHL unless you're ultra competitive no matter the circumstances.

I had a good chuckle at Vlasic on the 2nd pair as well. Damn East coast bias!

I think short of the Blackhawks, Sharks, Canadiens, Kings, Senators, Penguins, Blues, Yotes, the Preds and Lightning he'd be the clear cut #1.

I'm pulling for Finland in the finals here. Would be the first time ever that a country has won the U-18, U-20 and Worlds in the same year. I'm shocked Canada's never done that before.
