We've had a great season and this is a good series. There's no need to overreact after a hard fought Eastern Confrence Finals. A Shattenkirk caliber player to hold down the right side of the second pairing would be an insane piece for us but I feel no need to trade an all world player to fill any other holes because honestly our jokes aren't that big anymore.

I hear yah. But what if the Pens lose in 6 with the core not doing poop. Would you trade one of Crosby or Malkin or two of Hagelin, Kessel, Hornqvist, and Kunitz?

I think the Pens win this. But if they don't, it's all bets off. I'm a Red Wings fan who is asking from an outside perspective.

I agree with commentators on the Canadian feed that Murray's play didn't justify the pull; rather the Pens needed a spark & a message being sent by the coach that their play had to pick up, which it did.
I suspect that Murray, like elliott, is a bit fatigued and banged up, so putting the old Pro back in is the way to go for the next game.

Only Kunitz. No reason to blow up this team even if they go out in six.

Kunitz is a great complimentary player. Just like Neal, Ponikarovski (sp?), and Hornqvist. I am in the group who think the Pens are riding a high of the HBK line. I want SJS to face the Pens.

Do you think the Pens can match Pavelski, Burns, and Thornton?

Nobody is taking Kunitz. Nobody is taking Kessel's contract. Hags and Hornquest dont bring much back in return.

Love Letang, but I always noticed he has too many PK Subban like stupid hits/bad penalties.

Playing on the edge is what makes Letang and PK wo hard to play against.

He needs to keep his emotions in check or it will cost the team. So glad he realized how stupid his penalty was but he should have known better before he lost his cool. He hasn't played well lately. He and Malkin were terrible on the PP.

There was no way he was going to continue the torrid pace he was on in the first two series. Eventually he was coming back down to earth and that is what we are seeing. That why I would give the net back to the seasoned vet in goal and let him have his chance to shine.

All along it was "Murrays net until he loses it" and even though last night was clearly not his fault with the defense being a sponge, it shows that maybe they need a kick in the ass in the form of a goaltender change to show them they need to do better. While I would hope they would play their hearts out in front of any goalie in net, I think they have a lot of respect for Fleury and will play hard for him.

Not Murray's fault last night, but I'd give MAF the start.

If I were Letang Id be pretty pissed all the time when the game plan vs the Pens the past years is to be basically take him out.

I really don't see any trades this off-season. The Pens will be looking for a LW and a d-man, much like the rest of the league. They have the option of trying to fill those positions from within or trying to hit a home run with a cheap UFA. Basically they will sign a few FA's and create competition in camp.

That is true, the problem is there is a right time and a wrong time to exact revenge. He should be old enough to understand this. It is difficult to constantly control your emotions but he seems to let it get the best of him way too often.

How is no one taking Kunitz? A team in need of some depth would easily throw a 2nd or 3rd for him. He has a huge track record of being able to play in the top 6 and is still proving that these last few games. I'm not saying he will get a huge return, but he's easily tradeable. Team really couldn't trade him before because of their lack of options for the top 6, but I think that changes this offseason

Murray's play did not cause the pull, after 4 goals and a period to play you don't leave a guy in for a possible 6th and 7th. I look at it like this though. The last three goals tampa scored they got Murray moving side to side(like any coaching staff and video team obviously would tell them too) and scored. Murray got a piece of the second goal with his glove but was just a little too slow. Say that's Fleury and he gets a bigger piece of that puck(because hes a better side to side goalie) and it goes wide, or he gloves it. When Drouin throws it across the crease Fleury poke checks it with his active stick. That's what I see when I see those goals go in.
Can someone explain to me how the Letang penalty shook out? I first thought he got an unsportsmanlike for the slapping of the puck after the whistle, a crosscheck on killorn and a roughing with boyle that cancelled out but my friend said there was no unsportsmanlike. Killorn and Boyle were both coming after Letang for slapping the puck. I think we got screwed.

The end of this series is irrelevant, none of the players are getting traded after the season.

Letang got cross-checking and roughing. Matt Cullen had the original penalty for holding. Brian Boyle was called for roughing that cancelled out Cullen's, therefore the four minute short-handed situation.

So Killorn was allowed to just attempt a stiff arm to Letangs face. Got it. If you guys want to let that happen to you that's fine but I'm with Letang. Crosscheck that POS.

Instead of touching the puck and ending the play Letang shot the puck towards some of TB players heads. A couple of players went to bump Letang and maybe say something to him and at that point he lost his mind. Completely stupid and unnecessary way to put yourself in the box for 4 minutes.
Great move by Boyle to get Letang off the ice and in the box so easily.

The Pens have had a great year regardless of what happens from here on out. There is no way you trade one of the top centers in the league unless the return is a top player and a potential top center man to take over his spot. Malkin's most likely playing with a lower body injury (notice he doesn't have a ton of hop.) this also effects your hands. This team is in great shape moving forward.
