You're assuming there's no chance nuge gets moved. Which isn't fact
Plus, i can see chiarelli hoping to keep the other rw if one of em gets moved (Ebs or yaks) instead of totally gutting the right side by moving both. That said, he'd be looking to move nuge instead of ebs.
And in that case, I think Eller + something middling is reasonable value at this point
Or even if McClellan wants Leon on the wing and nuge Centering that line, we'll then need a 3c. And Eller is at worst s decent one. Potentially a good one - HB77
I'm not assuming Nuge is here next year. And on top of that I have stated here before that I kind of like the idea of Drai back on the wing if they deal both Eberle and Yakupov this offseason. If a new 3C is needed could they not try Hendricks in that spot? If the 4th is kept can they not try Dubois at 3C to ease his time in to the NHL?

Really good post
Ellers got some skillz even if he's abit of a question mark. And as far as his comments a few years ago; absolute non issue - HB77
I think that lineup gives us depth all over the top 3 lines. I think you could move kassian up to the "?" Beside hall and Leon but I'd say it's probably more realistic to see a FA there. Obviously a Brouwer Ladd lucic backers would be nice but more realistically maybe a Jamie mcginn would look good there.
This is all under the assumption that we trade the picks to bolster our D. Hopefully tkachuk has a big memorial cup to boost the trade value of the 4th overall |

IF there was a deal between the 2 clubs for Yakupov; it would be either Nathan Beaulieu or Fucale and a draft pick going the other way. The Oilers have a ton of forwards, and do not need to take on a constantly hurt, slow over paid Dman like Emelin. Lars Eller does nothing for the oilers; so unless you are giving 1 of the 2 above mentioned; its not happening. - Kinggilmour
Rarely do I agree with a leafs fan. But this is one of those rare occasions I half assed do. |

Fucale seems to have fallen a fair deal. |

i think Chiarelli believes that success starts with the back end. he will pay big to get an elite #1. Draisaitl combined with the #4 pick and another player gets you a Norris nominee like Weber, Keith, Burns or, even a Doughty. i believe Chiarelli goes all in and gets someone that makes the Oil immediate contenders this year. It will take a huge bold move. The timid Oiler fanbase will likely freak out at first. But, once the team starts contending, the cost will be soon forgotten.
So many teams need to do this kind of deal to get them out of cap hell. Once Chiarelli puts his basic offer together, I think he will have at least half a dozen teams offering up top Dmen. |

Yakupov Could get the Oilers a 1st round pick, maybe 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, or 18th. - thejonathans
Was kidding about the 3rd, but I would only gave up a late first for him. |

So what gets us our two top-4 Dmen? - MaximumBone
maybe Eberle and then you sign a FA replacement. Would love Demers for just money. 4th overall, Nurse, other prospects/picks |

Because Hendricks can't produce the type of offense a competitive team needs to have. Also trying to insert another 18 year old into the NHL. This is a recipe for disastrous failure. |

Honestly I think Eller does ,ore for the oil than bealieu I live in Edmonton so I rarely get to see him play. But he's a LHD which the oil don't need. Is he really gonna help our D since we already have sekera klefbom nurse Davidson reinhart as LHD |

They can try any number of scenarios of course
But Hendricks is certainly not as an effective a 3c as Eller is. Beyond question. And I like what Hendricks brings. But he's an energy 4th liner that can take a face off when needed.
As far as Dubois, he's proven In junior. Nothing more. Not only is Eller proven he's effective in the nhl, but pushing rooks into nhl roles without much to back them up has proven beyond any doubt to be a huge gamble
End of the day, I believe if mtl is in fact the leader for yaks, Eller + is a very reasonable potential return |

Edmonton should also look outside the box.
Try to find a top 4 defender that is developing or is emerging; in other words, he is flying under the radar.
If we want to acquire Trouba, Barrie, Shattenkirk, or Vatenen, it will cost Edmonton a valuable asset.
Now if we try to acquire a player that doesn't have a lot of current value right now since no one knows who the hell he is, it would be really cheap for us.
Look at Parayko, no one knew who the hell he was 2 years ago, now he is probably STL next Top 2 defender. I bet two years ago, you could have gotten him for a 2nd rounder.
The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend. LOOK OUTSIDE THE BOX.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, Edmonton still needs one of the guys listed (Preferably Trouba), but if they can find a player that I jsut described, they can get two great defender at a much cheaper price |

LD, Klefbom, Hall, and McDavid are probably the last players that wil lbe moved in any case scenario.
Eberle, RNH, and even NURSE are more likely to be moved at this point. |

Agreed
I believe that Leon, Connor and klefbom are unequivocally oilers next fall
I do believe that there's a small chance hall or nurse might get moved depending on a Slam dunk return. But even then a longshot
Anyone else ? Fair game |

Hall = Elite Defender no question (Hall is one of the best LW's in the league; at least top 5), anything else would be a failure of a trade (Subban type of caliber players)
Nurse = Solid, young Top 4 defender with the potential to be a Top 2, once again, anything else would be a failure (Maybe Matt Dumba?)
LD, McDavid, and Klefbom are already locks for a roster spot next year in my books. |

In the end what I would like to see is Eberle and Yak moved to get the Dman needed. Sign Brouwer. Move Drai back to RW. Would need to find a 3C in a deal.
When healthy a top six of:
Hall-RNH-Drai
Pou-CMD-Brouwer
Would look pretty sweet. Bottom 6 would still have a couple holes but depending on returns for Eberle, Yak, and the 4th it could be a competitive team that could hopefully challenge for a spot in the 8-10 range this coming season. Worrying about the 3C is something to do after the top 3 d spots is fixed. |

I would love to see an Ebs for Trouba type of deal.
Trouba is exactly what Edmonton needs; RSD, aggressive, big, puck-mover, 2-way defender, and he has a great shot. |

I agree. The oil need a 1st pair RhD and a 2nd pair RHD. The target 1st pair is probably Barrie/vatanen or something like that. But for the 2nd right D I think they should go after a team like Minnesota/Florida/Nashville/NYI if the expansion draft is announced. You only get to protect 3 D
Minny:
Suter spurgeon are locks so one of dumba/brodin would have to be exposed.
Nashville:
Weber josi and one of ekholm/Ellis would have to be exposed.
Florida:
Ekblad kulikov and gudbransson. Which would leave petrovic exposed.
NYI:
Harmonic leddy boychuck. Which leave hickey pulock and Dehann exposed.
The oilers should go after guys like dumba pulock Ellis or petrovic. Guys that would be our 2nd pair RHD next year and there teams might want to trade them for assets so they don't lose them for nothing next year[/img] |

It's not a crazy idea by any means. But you better make sure you sign someone of brouwers quality at minimum or youve truly gutted your right side.
And the thing about Edmonton is putting too many eggs in the basket of assuming anyone Will sign in edm isn't wise |

It'd have to be one hell of a package. Something like RNH, Yak, Nurse, and a 2017 1st and even then I don't think Montreal would do it. - MaximumBone
I certainly wouldn't do it if I were Montreal. Nurse is still a project ... Yak is a suspect. So, its RNH and a 1st for him? Doesn't get it done.

This is true for sure
But his potential and toolset are almost beyond debate
No doubt he struggled at times this year getting thrown to the wolves, but those skills and intangibles were still clear
He's got serious value imo |
