Of course , you need help on D. The thing I appreciate most about the Sabres is that they didn't rest on their Laurels. Not a Kane fan, ROR is obviously very good, but the point is your GM added some players to take the heat off Reinhart and that Eichel kid. Make a few upgrades over some of your aging vets year by year and the growth and improvement will continue.

No it's pretty simple trade Yak for whatever you can get. Trade Nugent Hopkins for a top 4 puck moving defender trade the 4th pick for a top pairing defender sign a veteran gritty winger and get a quality back up goalie. Bam.

My guess is we overpay for a guy like Fowler but also get a steal for a veteran goal scoring winger with a year or two left on his contract but a decent sized cap hit from a cap strapped team

A lot of teams like the Ducks, Avs, Blues etc. Have stud defenders who they can't afford to keep I'm sure they'd happily take an elite prospect for them.
