What could the leafs offer oilers to get 4th overall pick and keep Marner with Tkachuk? - all mighty oil
Rielly
But I don't see the Leafs doing that.

obviously he wants to go to the Habs, he can play with Subban (unless Subban is dealt elsewhere) ... and even then he could be the 2nd line center behind the turtleneck or Galchenyuk.
if there are other Habs rumors please fill us in. - BorjeFan4Ever
Coaching change, followed by a front office change. Followed by a buyout of Petry, followed by a trade of Subban where Montreal eats $3.5 million a year for 7 years.

He's certainly not as young as the Sens core. The Sens are practically still in diapers |

Three way trade, Van Riemsdyk plus the Pittsburgh pick for a quality defenseman. Move the Defenseman to Edmonton for the pick. Just as an example.

Pretty sure I would rather just have JVR and the pick.

Lost in all this drama is that the past two years have seen exciting firsts in the draft.
McDavid basically destroying the world (ok Crosvechkin did this too...but it's been a long time!)
Eichel being the Hobey Baker winner in his draft
Matthews being the first NA player to move to Europe in his draft year and then dominating that league to the point where if he wasn't injured for a few weeks and missed games due to the WJC would have won the MVP of the NLA
Laine being the only draft eligible player I can think of that won the WC MVP and Finnish Playoff MVP
It's exciting times with young players so filled with roids and advanced diets starting at 6 to maximize musculature potential are basically bred to play hockey. |

Love JVR - Will be hard to re-sign him in 2 years, any pick at #4 is controllable for a long time.

Like him, Would you rather have Van Riemsdyk at $7-8 million for 7 years or Tkachuk for $900K - for a year, then 4 years at and average of $4.0 million - two years down the road?

Ahhhh, the old 3-way deal.
Maybe we could work a sign and trade in there also ?
I think Edmonton should keep the pick, possibly drop a few places if the return is worthwhile.
Use a pick around 8 or so to take who is left of Juolevi, Chychrun, or Sergachyev (sp?)
Trade RNH for a good D-man, since they have Draisatl and McDavid. Maybe a deal with Anaheim, or Shattenkirk if they know he will re-sign?

First mistake would be assuming what JVR will demand on next contract.. |

JVR and Pitt's pick for 4th overall... that is pretty tempting I think. |

Couturier was born in December. Younger than Landeskog who apparently didn't get caught up in the "age thing." - AdamFrench
I dont get the Couturier comparison.. he was ranked 5 or 6 in the mock drafts closer to the draft.. Its not the same |

A big body winger, with excellent shot - can score 30 goals in the absence of a true number one centre. #2 pick overall. I think there might be some interest. The Leafs could try to sign him before he's UFA, but he won't be signing for $5 million a year. |
