Marner is just having a blast right now. That line is the best in junior hockey and it's not even close.

Be great if he can make the Leafs next year. Having another exciting player in the mix will make for a fun season, even if it is going to be a likely bottom 10 finish. Takes time to improve after all.

for those of us that are old enough... we should be sensitive to this - based on Harold Ballard... who effectively ruined the organization for decades.

I'm not saying we should feel sorry for the senaturds, rather not focus on that part.

The last time we saw this kind of hubris from a fan base was by the Oilers as they struggled with the tyler/taylor debates. How many years since have the Oilers gone as bottom feeders with supposedly the best pool of prospects in the NHL? We are all familiar with Leaf fan summer talk. It is the same every year. Last year most of you were gone by mid December. Enjoy your summer.

I am convinced that Yzerman will not overpay Stamkos. My guess is he makes an $8m take it (or leave it) offer. No state taxes in Florida so that would be equivalent to a $9.2m offer from Rangers.

Not sure what Stamkos does. Everybody wants to win and the Bolts look very strong through the next five years or so. Yzerman played the role of the reluctant GM but he made out like a bandit when he moved Martin St. Louis to the Rangers.

I wonder if he immediately moves negotiation rights for Stamkos as soon as his season is officially over.

I know the circumstances are different and it is a little different Lou then the Lou of the Devils but I am thinking that if Lou is a smart guy ( I believe he is ) that he won't go after stammer and the bolts winning without him should only reinforce that wasting 10 million on one player is dumb. You guys could be in a very similar position to the bolts in a couple years so why risk running into the same problems when you likely have enough prospects to win without a player of stammers caliber.

Love the Leafs. Everyone in Eastern Ontario was either a Leaf or Canadiens fan before the Sens rolled into town. No fan base has been more loyal or punished more severely than the blue and white faithful. They really do deserve something to cheer about. It is kind of romantic to see them celebrating their successful last place finish. Reminds me of the Hungarian team gathering at one end of the ice with their fans to sing their national anthem after each losing game. Leaf fanatics really do want to believe they have the best pool of prospects ever assembled. No doubt in my mind, Shanahan is doing it the right way. We know there will be more suffering and I believe the Leaf fans are well prepared for the long haul. They can easily handle a few more years of bottom feeding. The quality of off season trash talk from Leaf fans is somewhat legendary in its excitement and anticipation. This year the trash talk is exceptional. I have always thought that I provide a good target to let them get their frustrations out. And, this is an especially strong season for them spinning a new hope cycle. God has been very good to them this year.

I just read the article about this and they say they are going to do one last tour...I can't even imagine the emotion that will be at those shows...what a hell of a thing.
