I think it's going to be a trade of like 4 prospects and a couple draft picks for a goalie |

Imagine if somebody signed Braydan McNabb to a $4.3 million contract this summer.
That's pretty close to being the same thing. |

Oh no, Brayden McNabb >>> Jeff Finger.
Imagine, for one second, that somebody had to pay $14m still to say.... Brooks Orpik. That's what we're dealing with...
Oh. |

Except Finger's $14 million contract then is equivalent to a $17.2 million contract under the current salary cap. |

I agree, think they will surprise and I would rather Marner play a bit for Team Canada than play junior or be a healthy scratch in Toronto. - winsix

Honest question. What would everyone be happy with getting Stamkos for?
I say 9M max or walk... If for 8 years
I would have no problem with 10x5 though . Save enough room for our young guns when they are ready. |

i think he will want $9m for 8 years. If somebody offers him a 7 year deal he will want $10m a year. I don't think he would have any interest in a 6 year deal.

That would be funny and sad if sauer was a somebody instead of another Finger. - systemtool
Well Sauer was pretty good but concussions ended his career. |

Let him sign there then. I think that he's over-rated right now. He's had two injury filled years and the game has turned to a more defensive oriented, speed game. He used to set up for one timers, similar to Brett Hull, in his heyday. The NHL coaching fraternity has figured out how to defense this kind of hockey and it's rendered many previously good shooters as obsolete. Just look at Stamkos' numbers during last years playoffs.

I think that the Leafs should save their salary cap money, for when they become a real playoff contender. Many of their top end young players will need an increase, after they finish their entry level deals. Stamkos will be entering his 30's then.

Whoever gets him will overpay.
In his last 185 NHL games he has 154 points.
Before that?

Not a $5 million dollar player like Grabovski, but is overpaid at $9 million plus. If his age fit the current new core's age, then sure, but he's not. His best years are behind him. We'd only be paying for his past output, when he was in Tampa. Let them give him his payday, since they got his best years. We've seen this scenario before.

True. More like a 4.25 Bozak.
(frank) Stamkos. The guy is like what...45 now?
Close to passing out yet or did you just hit the peak of the booze effects? |
