Leafs aren't getting Stamkos..

I’ve been thinking about that quote. Here’s my best guesses as to what’s going on:

1) He could be completely honest and the leafs actually have no interest in signing stamkos.
2) They don’t know what is happening with Stamkos and in the event he re-ups with Tampa, they can say ‘we’re sticking to the development plan anyways’.
3) The leafs will make a run at stamkos and he was being overly cautious to avoid tampering charges.

Anyways, food for thought.

That's why I (only imo) think they'll tank somewhat again. Bring in Matthews and Nylander but keep Marner down. Play with Greening, Laich and the other schmucks. Although I've been wrong before

I don't think they'll tank and I don't see any way you can keep Marner down but they still won't be very good, they're all rookies their not going be come in and all be 65 plus point players.. this team has a long way to go. Bottom 10 finish. Next year will be a good learning and development year for the kids in the nhl. Get them learning and playing the nhl game but also living and training like the pros. The NHL game is hard enough as it is for a rookie but the whole lifestyle and the travelling and everything is a huge adjustment especially for a kid like Marner coming from the OHL where they don't travel like they do in the AHL or WHL or so on.

Should be interesting. I don't think they will be that great, defiently improved but still near the bottom. That said who knows who they trade for this off season right?
