Morning walshy.
I'm a bandwagon Raps fan, just cheering for Toronto, but nice to see them not going down without a fight when everybody expected a sweep. Yeah hope the Marlies follow suit. It has been fun for the city to see some competitive teams for a change. And things looking up for the big hockey team, need them to get in on the fun next.... |

The last time we saw this kind of hubris from a fan base was by the Oilers as they struggled with the tyler/taylor debates. How many years since have the Oilers gone as bottom feeders with supposedly the best pool of prospects in the NHL? We are all familiar with Leaf fan summer talk. It is the same every year. Last year most of you were gone by mid December. Enjoy your summer. - spatso
well now... that little small effort reverse troll seem to really "set the hook"... I was hoping for a tuna.... just got a goldfish instead.

Yeah finally some light at the end of the tunnel.
I too am I bandwagon Raps fan. To be honest, I don't really even like the sport, but it's nice seeing Toronto represent Canada and trying to stick it to the big man.
Looking forward to the draft (after watching the Sharks beat the Lightning) |

Yes, I think you are right. I do love the talk around the draft especially for the team that goes #1. So, I try not to overstate my case or abuse my posting privileges. I think that the Leafs finally doing it the right way is such a positive story for all of hockey that you cannot help but feel good for the long suffering fans of the blue and white. |

here's what I "NOW" know... having learned in the past month or so...
1) winning the draft lottery is only useful if you aren't the Leafs
2) no matter how outrageous the hype gets around a propect... that hype balloon instantly explodes if the prospect either appears to be Leaf-bound or if its definite
3) new phenomena - prospect rise or fall in the rankings - does not include Leaf factor .... translated - if a Leaf prospect appears to be doing really well, has scoring stats that support the prospect evaluation and is providing the big club with a set of hard decisions to make... those are all bad things because he's a Leaf prospect, for any other team it would be a positive
4) you don't have to be the highest scoring player to be considered the highest scoring player - eg. you can finish fifth in a category with scoring stats - but your fan base will label you as "the top scorer"
5) (not new but re-affirmed) - a late first round pick that belongs to the Leafs is actually a 2nd round pick - and early 2nd round picks of other teams somehow have more value than the Leafs late 1st rounders
6) (big revelation) that a Leaf prospect scoring 4 or 5 points in a game really isn't as good as another team's prospect who scores 1 or 2 points.
obviously I completely understand the logic and supporting arguments for all the above points.
oh... forgot one
7) Jack Eichel is simply the bestest - even though a certain other unnamed USAHockey grad has better stats.

Love the Leafs. Everyone in Eastern Ontario was either a Leaf or Canadiens fan before the Sens rolled into town. No fan base has been more loyal or punished more severely than the blue and white faithful. They really do deserve something to cheer about. It is kind of romantic to see them celebrating their successful last place finish. Reminds me of the Hungarian team gathering at one end of the ice with their fans to sing their national anthem after each losing game. Leaf fanatics really do want to believe they have the best pool of prospects ever assembled. No doubt in my mind, Shanahan is doing it the right way. We know there will be more suffering and I believe the Leaf fans are well prepared for the long haul. They can easily handle a few more years of bottom feeding. The quality of off season trash talk from Leaf fans is somewhat legendary in its excitement and anticipation. This year the trash talk is exceptional. I have always thought that I provide a good target to let them get their frustrations out. And, this is an especially strong season for them spinning a new hope cycle. God has been very good to them this year. - spatso

We need to get these rules posted somewhere so that any future Leafs fans understand from day one.
8) Any Leafs prospect that scores a lot of points, only does so because they play on a strong team. Any non-Leafs prospect that scores a lot of points, does so because they are a very promising prospect. |

truth.
7th rounders who put up less pts in 2 games than a 1st rounder does in one period = proving they're on the same level.

9) Francis Perron is simply better than Mitch Marner.
10) Non- Leafs fans that visit Leafs threads do so in peace. Leafs fans who visit other teams thread do so in order to troll said fan base. Leafs fans, not unlike the residents of any district outside of the Capital in the Hunger Games, are just too sensitive
