Sabres sign Karabacek
Vaclav Karabacek (#Sabres)
3 yrs @ $695,000 cap hit
2016: $575,000 base + $65,556 SB
2017: $650,000 + $72,222
2018: $650,000 + $72,222 - bluengold12
Not really sure why. An injury skill guy that doesn't have the skill to score at a ppg pace as a 20 y/o. Seems like a waste of a contract to me. Kris Baker seems to support him though. |

No reason to think one way or the other. All speculation right now if anything. Ek has him to us in his rumor chart which pretty much means he's going somewhere else. But I think he'd be a great 1-2 year signing. - TheSabresTaco
I would be happy if he decide to play two more years and retire sabre
But like you said who knows maybe he has his heart set on another Stanley Cup |

I think we can all agree Vancouver is the most poorly run franchise in the NHL at the moment. |

Sweet Christmas. |

To be honest Gudbranson is a decent defenseman, and was a high draft pick, but they should be rebuilding, they just keep digging the hole deeper. Giving up Mccann and a 2nd rounder is a huge price. |

Looks like a bust for a 2nd round pick. He's kinda like Will Carrier... I think what they say about him is that he has yet to reach his offensive potential. Now that he's signed, time to hope for a late bloomer. |

We had until June 1st to sign him or lose his rights, not saying we should have signed him, but that was the deal the Sabres were facing. |

Maybe he'll still develop into something. He's been underwhelming so far, but I would have been unhappy if we let a former 2nd rounder walk for nothing. |

Well yeah. I wouldn't even have signed him. But if the organization sees something useful in him, good for him. Hope he succeeds. |

Carrier is coming along. I believe he was the youngest guy in his draft class, and he put up .5 ppg in his first pro season. We don't need too many prospects fighting for roster spots on the big club too soon. Fashing, Bailey will probably be up next year, with Shaller, Catenacci trying desperately for a spot. |

I don't think that Eichel is generational and there is nothing wrong with that. It is a way overused term.
But some fan base thinks Matthews is generational. - rmiethaner
Going by the meaning "once in a generation":
I think the only generational player the NHL has seen in the last 50 years is Bobby Orr. Who else came close to matching him? Brad Park was pretty damn good, but he wasn't even in the same league as Orr. Gretzky had Lemieux, and Sid has Ovechkin. And Dom had Roy. |

I also think he's a bust i'm hoping the light turns on and it becomes a late bloomer too |

i took a run at some very hot, mentally unbalanced chick in the summer of 1977 who loved that song. She gave me the red light. Probably for the best. |

I agree, it would be disappointing. I guess I'm not afraid to cut bait, but I'm no talent evaluator so what do I know.
Baker ranks him below Olafsson and Erin Rodgers.
He's like a less productive Will Carrier. Yet he's supposed to be more skilled. |

I meant they have a similar play style. I liked Carrier's progress. Year or two out still, but a quality player expected to make strides next season as he did this past season.
In other news, I don't see the Cat going anywhere. |
