i took a run at some very hot, mentally unbalanced chick in the summer of 1977 who loved that song. She gave me the red light. Probably for the best.

Going by the meaning "once in a generation":

I think the only generational player the NHL has seen in the last 50 years is Bobby Orr. Who else came close to matching him? Brad Park was pretty damn good, but he wasn't even in the same league as Orr. Gretzky had Lemieux, and Sid has Ovechkin. And Dom had Roy.

Yes. Good point.

In a 22 year span, only three players won the Art Ross. Gretzky, Lemieux, and Jagr.

Baker on Karabacek
The skill, will and intensity are not issues. He's very good in the corners and adds some jam on the forecheck. It's a matter of consistency that will make or break this player, as the prospect pool is flooded with talented wingers looking to fill the same role.......appears to be a "tweener" at the next level, meaning there are questions of whether or not he's a skilled enough goal scorer to earn a second line role, while wondering if he's of the optimal mindset to grind out regular checking shifts as an energy winger. That's what the Sabres need to find out

I agree, it would be disappointing. I guess I'm not afraid to cut bait, but I'm no talent evaluator so what do I know.

Baker ranks him below Olafsson and Erin Rodgers.

He's like a less productive Will Carrier. Yet he's supposed to be more skilled.

I wanted McKeown Or Dvorak we'll see how it plays out maybe he'll be a late bloomer like you said

Edit: And yes, I am quoting myself. In no way did I intend this to be sarcastic. Just agree that everyone has a comparison to themselves except Orr.

Mine was named Sam. He was a pathetic little (frank)er with just a nub for a tail.

Not signing a 2nd round pick to at least an ELC would be a terrible management job... Sure he hasn't produced excellent numbers but need to see how he'll do in AHL or EHL first before I cut the bait.

Thoughts about today's earlier convo regarding when to pick a D or a F..

John Shannon ‏@JSportsnet 34m34 minutes ago
Benning: " It was going to be hard to add a top 4 dman with the market the way it is... so we're happy we were able to get one this way."

D are usually harder to acquire than F, so my vote still remains... trade for a F, draft a D.

Too many highly regarded D prospects never really pan out. See, e.g. Piss-ek. Pay the man his money for a #2 D and get the young sniper in a draft.

Sidetracking here, I hope Murray improves the Amerks. By a lot. I only thought of that cause I was thinking how many contracts we have for next season. 28 so far. 7 more for the Sabres. Leaves 35. Room for 15 more players.

You make a good point about asset management.

Johnson may or may not be a good #1, but there are more and more teams going with the 2 goalie system and I think he definitely could slot in any of those spots playing 30-40 games. He could do that here, but we may want to give one of our prospects a chance to move up (probably losing Makarov). I could see him going to Carolina if they don't resign Ward, which I don't think they should. Maybe Toronto or Edmonton.

Edmonton has a goalie ........... it's Calgary that doesn't.
