I said this to someone before Florida was knocked out of the playoffs. Gudbranson was their best defence man in the playoffs. This is a good deal regardless of the picks traded. I would do McCann for Gudbransen every time.

My thoughts exactly. Then when you factor in that Dman plus the Vey(McKewon) and Sven(Andersson) trades you are looking at 3 Dmen that would be our best d prospects all gone.

I watch a lot of Florida games, I'm sorry, but I don't think he's worth the price Benning just paid for him. I like that he's a Canuck, but I'm appalled at the price paid. Once again Benning gets bent over on a trade.

Gudbrandson is a 3 Rd overall draft pick RHD 6'5 24 years old. Do you think you might be setting your expectations a little high?

I think we could have signed a top 4 right d. I dont hate the trade but JB has to find a way to get back some of these picks. If he can resign him long term at a good price then we are set on the right side for years. But I really hope he starts to develop some offense to his game or this one will not be good.

So gubranson is due for an absolutely terrible contract extension.

It's just idiotic...Gudbranson is a nice 5/6 guy who's good at shot suppression and hitting, essentially Sbisa or a slight step above. Sbisa had 8 points in 41 games, Gudbranson had 9 in 62 games.

He just gave up a really talented first round pick center and another really high second round pick for that....he's a (frank)in idiot.

Edit: it's not that I don't like the idea of having Gudbranson, I really do, but the price Benning paid is completely ridiculous.

HOLY (frank)....Benning is a (frank)in idiot, I don't know how much more of him and his trades I can take. I understand what he's trying to accomplish, but (frank) (frank) me, stop overpaying for good in a scrum kinda guy. It's ludicrous.

You can bet your ass he's going hard after UFA's because either him or ownership has zero plans to build slowly through the draft.

Meh, he's on a path to being elite shutdown Dman. Even if he puts up 30 pts /season he'll be worth it unless McCann turns into something special.

I hated the Vey deal and the Sven one I was okay with but we needed Dmen and there were so many good ones projected in the 2nd round I wouldnt have made that deal. Both guys could have been replaced via free agency.

As LEFTY mentioned I think ownership wants to get back to the playoffs and wont tolerate a rebuild.

To me this trade shows they will go all in on July 1. The problem is I dont think it will be enough to get to the playoffs.
