But we suck less today and when we draft next month , again we will suck less. - VANTEL
One D issue fixed, still need the QB though. I'm hoping JB isn't done and tries to get another 2nd for next month. |

People forget Strecher is a PMD , if he makes it. I do think Benning will be targeting Dumba or Vatanen . |

I like the trade...At 1st I wondered if it was a slight bit rich but when you look what hamilton trade took and a few others you realize JB did rather well. And for a guy that led in playoff minutes too. - SMBDragon
Very true. If you want a top 4 dman in a trade it was pretty much the going rate. Steep...but it is what it is. |

I don't know if miss it is the proper wording. In the last three years new faces on the team
Markstrom
Horvat
Virtanen
Sutter
Etem
Hutton
Baertschi
Tryamkin
Gudbrandson
Vey
Gaunce
Dorsett
Next year 2017
Boeser , this years pick , Demko.
That sure looks like a rebuild - VANTEL
simply switching out one face for another is not a rebuild, drafting and developing is... |

So with the 2nd we gave up, albeit a high one so the graph may so somewhat skewed.

I dont agree with that. Toronto finally got it right over the last two years after 10 years of (frank) ups. I see the Canucks as the Leafs of old, trying to make the playoffs but we will never be good enough. The way I see it this team will be finishing with a 10-14th draft pick for the next while. So instead of Mathews, Marner and Laine we will be getting a Horvat or Virtanen.
We need lots of prospects as Demko and Boeser are good. But other than Hutton and Horvat im not sold on any other player under 25 in the system. Im really hoping we land Dubois in the draft. - mauryballstein
What the hell are you talking about?? Canucks would have to sign over the hill veterans for 10 years straight to even come close to the leafs of old.
your comment makes no sense. No team except the oilers is anywhere near the laughing stock status of Toronto, who haven't done anything to date despite the toronto media trying to fool people into thinking they are anything but a joke.
they finished last on a deliberate tank job... the mentality of doing these things despite having the overhyped babcock, and crazy uncle Lou will play itself out and it won't be good for the leafs. they won't make the playoffs for another 5-10 years.... Burke already tried to do this and it didnt' happen.
something is going to give and it'll be bad when it does. my prediction... bell and rogers split and one team gets a new franchise in the 905. |

There are five drafted names on that list added in the last 3 years. Isn't that enough?
It would have been 6 if we kept McCann |

hard to do when you trade away all your draft picks for players that other teams don't want. |

Let the Emo's have their day man. They all want their cake and eat it too.
This is the kind of deal that addresses needs and helps the youth movement. (frank) draft picks. They are basically a crapshoot outside of top 10 anyway... - chompsey
well said. We are filling needs and that is a good thing. |

Pretty much bang on. Sadly enough, JB is trying to sell tickets next year because attendance is down. TML and oilers fans have been selling out still after a decade of losing. Van has a couple bad seasons and people are unwilling to pay to go. - manvanfan
that's cuz Nux fans aren't morons. why should fans pay to watch poor performance. $$ are the only thing that will move the team towards winning.
leafs have never been past the 3rd round. Canucks have done it 3 times.
i'm feeling better about the direction of the team after this trade.
Now all we need to do is trade Tanev for some talent up front and sign a solid ufa dman who isn't soft. |

To be honest I always joke that the fans I dislike the most in the NHL are the "other" Leaf fans. I hate how bad of a name they give real fans. Fans that are objective, respectful and dedicated. - steve362
when they come up to you on the street while you are walking around in a habs or nux sweater and they try and tell you that you should be cheering for the leafs, then you'll know how f*d up they truly are.
or when you're at work and four or five of them come up to you like a gang and ask you if you'll start cheering for the leafs, now that you live in toronto and you say 'no', and they stop inviting you to lunch, then you'll know how messed up they truly are.
no bs. it's actually happened to me while in toronto. |

(apologies to the Vancouver fans who aren't asshats.) - Aetherial
uh, our regional NFL team won the superbowl a couple seasons back. so i think we're good on that front. if you don't think the seahawks are a vancity area team, then you haven't been to any sports stores or even the airport where seahawks merch is sold... |

Not to sound snarky, but he's not a top four on a decent team. I think the canucks are still stuck with an owner pushing to try and make the playoffs rather than have some patience and rebuild. I know how bad an owner and GM can get, and this isn't at that level but I think this move is a mistake. |

The so because sports stores and the airport sell merchandise, the seahawks are a vancity team? - DeflatedPucks
that and the fact the seahawks actually have salespeople who sell into the vancity region for season's tickets and bring seahawks to promotional events there... so yeah, the team knows vancity and area is part of their fanbase... |

I think some canucks fans are wondering if they can borrow the leafs paper bags for the next couple seasons - manvanfan
Sorry man. I think we are still going to need them for a while.
You should see the state of our goaltending. Our Minor league team that had the best record in the A, is poopting the bed hard right now, led by a goalie tandem that couldn't stop a beach ball if they played at the same time.
