TBH I've never got the impression that building through the draft was the Plan. Sure Linden and JB state that publicly but their player moves suggest something totally different. If they are going to rebuild while still being competitive then this is how they have to do it.

Not really though. They talk about trading for pieces that are part of the rebuild. They are adamant that they will not trade their 1st rounders though.

No he's definitely a center, as Willie Desjardins said last year. His talent is best in the middle. It just takes time to get there, you can insulate him on the wing because it's easier to play, like Montreals done with that Russian/American kid or Colorado did with McKinnon.

Both the Canucks and Panthers see him as a winger. Benning said so on the radio yesterday. MAYBE he could get exponentially stronger and excel at center but it's not a sure thing like you seem to be indicating.

Why not take it back further: We trade Kesler and a few mid round picks for Sutter, Sbisa, Gubrandson, Dorsett and a few mid round picks. Thanks Ryan!

I think that's JB's plan. Get a good D core, then get a few 1OA on forward.

His EV scoring rates are Adam McQuaid and Luca Sbisa.

What exactly are you trying to win? Let me rephrase that. What exactly do you think the Canucks have a chance of winning, in these next 10 years, if your GM/owner of whoever keeps making moves like they have been doing. You think Gudbransson, Granlund, Sutter, Very etc.

The moves are more puzzling than anything else. There really doesn't seem like there's a direction. One minute Jim bangs on about drafting and draft picks. The next he forks some over to other teams. One minute he wants to get younger, the next he's picking up the older player in a trade. The guy's bi-polar

Just because you add a 24 year old over a 20 doesnt contradict anything. Do we trade away 24 year olds because we want to get younger? No. Same reasoning. EG is probably going to squeeze an older player off the D core. Our D gets younger.

I wouldn't trade McCann & the 33rd for the 12th. McCann has two years of development under his belt and shown flashes, in limited roles, of a real offensive flair.

That's a step backwards IMO.

I've said do an OS for Vatanen so many times here to get a RHD with offense that ppl r sick of me bringing it up. Every excuse why not to do it from its not nice to do it to or why mess with a rival etc. So if u don't pay the going rate trading for a RHD u won't get one. This years draft is very thin on RHD & highly unlikely we'd get one. We move on to next years draft & hope again we find one? This could an exercise in futility.

He's on radars to be a middle six center, from my viewing and from reports I've read, Pronman being the latest this morning.

In three years time id rather Horvat and McCann down the middle than Sutter and Horvat.

Sutter is not a good top six option.
