I agree....thats because those same guys are here essentially to complain.... too much estrogen/progesterone in their systems it would seem.
saddens me to see men reduced to THIS in our society - SMBDragon
I dont understand how there is a problem with society because people dont have the same opinion on a hockey trade. |

When Chara was 24 in 2001 he had almost a career year in his 4th NHL season:
2g 7a 9p -27
And just like Gudbranson that's all he'd ever become. |

I'm pretty surprised to see so much negative commentary about this deal. People are putting an awful lot of value into a relatively inconsequential rookie season for McCann plus a 2nd round pick in a mediocre draft year. Conversely, at a time when acquiring top-4 defencemen is at a premium, Gudbranson can step in and balance out their top-4 defence by providing a much-needed RH shot and physical presence.
People should probably also take notice of the fact that both Willie Mitchell and Roberto Luongo were actively displeased about this trade. When a team's veteran leaders respond that way, it's usually indicative that just maybe the player involved had more value than what was recorded in their analytics dashboard. - khawk
2 players who have unceremonious exits out of Vancouver are unhappy a teammate they like is traded to Vancouver.

never said that at all, but when someone says "what you see from a 24 year old D is all he'll ever be..." Well, that's just a pretty stupid thing to say.
Time to look up Brent Burns...just guessing... be back in a minute |

Shag the analytics. Quite simple really....
1. Nucks made a trade
2. Nucks got fleeced.
All you need to know......next...... |

he progressed a little faster, started putting up points at 23, had a few off years with injuries, then started progressing again. |

Its not the player. Its his contract demands and the continuing to give a way picks when we have a poor prospect system and this trade does nothing to this team now other than like you said balance out the d. The problem is this team needs to conitinue to build through the draft for a couple years before adding a player like this.
Analytics to me is bull poop.
On another note we can protect 3 dmen in the upcoming expansion draft. Which will be tanev, hutton and gudbrandson.. SO say by by to edler for nothing. - mauryballstein
Pretty sure Hutton's protected/not-eligible.
His 2014-15 games for the Comets were on an ATO after his college season ended, I believe.
So that makes his first pro season 2015-16—if so, he's not eligible for the expansion draft. |

Good point. D take longer to mature. That is a fact. In general - unless they are outstanding - they shouldn't even be in the NHL until at least 21 and then takes 1 to 3 seasons of maturity. 25-30 should be a D's prime and the great ones can go much longer than 30. |

I sure hope so!! How about JV then same thing? I thought it was if you have played two seasons you were eligible. I might have just read something on here from someone who knows as much as me |

Object of the game is to score, Canucks have one of the worst offensive blue lines in the NHL. Subtracting Hamhuis for Gudbranson isn't going to help there.
If you just wanted a tough, physical dman who will fight you could have kept McCann and 33rd and signed Luke Schenn, Roman Polak, etc. - Nucker101
But everybody in the know knew that it was a matter of time before Jared slept with Thatchers girlfriend so they nipped it in the bud and shipped that future cancer out now before we were forced to trade a future Vezina canidate. |

Exactly, don't get me wrong I wouldn't say no to having Gudbranson on the Oilers but the price paid was dear just like Reinhart. |

Hamilton > Gudbranson > Reinhart
I'm kind of shocked the oil couldnt close the deal and trade Yak + 2nd for Gud, that was the rumored offer.
I guess McCaan> Yakapov |

Kind of.
Any player who's first pro season (AHL or NHL) was prior to 2015-16 is eligible.
Since Hutton's 14-15 games were on an ATO, which is the case with most college players, I'm pretty sure he's exempt.
Not sure on JV, since he went the CHL route. |

the point was that they whine and whine no matter what happens....we didnt sign this guy, we did sign this guy, we signed this guy and shouldve signed this other, hate the signing, hate the trade, hate the gm, this player sucks when we have him now he would have been our saviour now that we traded him.... THATS what Im referring to.
its like a bunch of whiny broads on their period here....this isnt how men are supposed to be. |

I would love to see Edmonton try and flip Yakupov to a team like NYI for a guy like Pulock. |
