The Oilers model of building through the draft only is not sound. Unlike you, JB doesnt seem to think McCann has a good shot at replacing Henrik so that puts him into the log jam at C. Using him to acquire a young RD was something many felt was probably going to happen. Those people got a good read on the situation.
I just don't see JM being a 1 C that is going to be competitive in the West. 2nd C maybe... but we have Horvat and Sutter now.
With the draft just a few weeks away, Dubois will very likely be available and more of a type we want and if not,,, I still like Tkachuck as a winger over McCann which is what the scouts and GM's seem to think JM is better suited for.
After how many times you told me you don't think Sam Reinhart has top line potential because of foot speed... I'm going to have to say they have a better eye for this than you. - boonerbuck
But that's what this board is for, to express our uneducated opinions
Booner…I'm not as wound up as it may seem, and truthfully, it's not really about the players per say, it's about the process. They're trying to cut corners and IMO it's just not the right way to go about it.
Benning is trying to find value where ever he can with pickups like Etem, Baertschi, Vey, Sutter, Sbisa, Granlund, Pedan etc. he's traded for all these guys and IMO only Baertschi and Sutter made them a better team. But the cost of acquiring these guys is a lot of picks.
And for the record, I stand by my statement that Sam Reinhart is still not a top six guy until his skating improves, which it can, Gaunce proved that to me. Almost half of his points last year where produced on the PP, he had 24 even strength points with 17 minutes of ice-time a game on average…oh and his face-off percentage was 33%. |

flashbacks to the milbury led isles era.
edit - I'm not suggesting the canucks are that bad, or that badly managed, more that I remember trying to find a silver lining around a turd.

22yr old RHD is worth a shot at reclamation.
Tanev was not drafted. - Nighthawk
Jesus man.
Ability levels don't seem to register with you at all.
Just someone under 25 and right handed. There's a pool of about 4 billion people that qualify. |

Done!
I would have done this deal any day of the week.
McCann has youth and potential but did not shine for two shifts in a row all season.
I like this trend.... building from the Net out.
Besides... it's obvious now Vancouver will be drafting a forward OR they feel they have more than enough to cover McCann's loss.
McCann's can be replaced. Gudbranson is a huge-dman and a top 4 or 2 pairing... not an easy find.
I agree with Willie Mitchell "WTF!" |

Single biggest problem the team has, ownership mandating they spend and win now! - LeftCoaster
Don't you hate it when the owner tells his GM to go out and try to build a winner. |

It’s worse when the owner tells the gm to sell off everything and put a sumo wrestler in net |

They (not all) literally won't be told. They say it's just trolling. WTF does a Penguins, Islanders, Jets, Blue Jackets, and 24 (excluding Leafs) other fan bases have to gain in trolling the Nucks. Every more JB has made the majority loves them. If only you could take Leafs fans comments from 2005-14 and put them side by side with Nucks fans comments, they'd be nearly identical. |

His goalie WTF
His team mates WTF
Although I know everyone here is an expert , when I see his team shocked and openly expressing sadness to see him go, I will take their word over anyone here about the type of player he is |
