@Marwood regarding succession plan for Henrik.
To that I'd say look at Bo Horvat's development curve, he's 21 next year and had issues with top six minutes. This years prospect won't be ready to be in a top six role and Horvat is only a second line center, you're still without a number one guy and you just traded a kid you've developed for two years.
Benning took five dollars out of his left pocket and put it in his right and said he's feels better about his financial situation.
Both the center and defense need fixing. Free agency looks to be the only three year window chance they have for another top six center. A lot of luck involved there though. - LeftCoaster
Do you believe McCann is a better player than Horvat? Do you believe he has a brighter future? |

You talk about his size and yet you name two kids who are smaller than him in Keller and Jost? - LeftCoaster
Are you comparing Mccanns skill to Jost and Keller? |

High price to pay, but JB is filling the age gap left by the poor drafting between 2007-2011:
11th overall from 2007 (Sutter)
19th overall from 2008 (Sbisa)
3rd overall from 2010 (Gudbranson)
29th overall from 2010 (Etem)
13th overall from 2011 (Sven)
45th overall from 2011 (Granlund)
The Kesler trade alone has brought in 3 of these players, so while we debated JB's ability to trade, he has moved many pieces and the result is more promising than the original deal of Bonino/Sbisa/1st rounder IMO. The top end talent on the roster in a few years will have come from the draft - WhiteLie
and has traded Kassian, Jensen, Shinkaruk and McCann. All former first round picks.
As well as a very servicable player in Bonino, a couple of second rounds and several later picks.

None are great but all are young enough to potentially improve from their current levels. You cant have a team of all stars, but you need a team of NHL players which they are - WhiteLie
Etem, Sbisa and granlund are not nhl players on a half decent team. |

I've asked this already but I am genuinely curious, what would you guys want the Canucks to do if Dubois is picked again 4? There seems to be an assumption Van will draft him, but if they can't would you guys want Nylander, Tkatchuk or a defenceman? - BetterCallSaul
BPA Tkachuk or trade down & pick say a Jost or Brown if the right deal |

I said this years draft because I think the twins will sign a short extension. Just a feeling. |

Well, we'll see how you feel about that when he leaves the front of his net to hit some guy in the corner leaving the goaltender to fend for himself. Happens all....the....time..... - Panthers88
Great! He's going to fit in just fine.
I think JBs putting a lot into character. From what I've read not one person has questioned the kids character or locker room presence. Good with the media and fans alike.
With an aging core being shifted out maybe JB wants team-first players populating the room, especially during the inevitable hard times ahead.

Defenseman 1:
6.05 216 lbs. 24 years old
43 pts in 309 games
Defenseman 2:
6.04 225, 27 years old (at the time of trade, plus couple lbs lighter)
35 pts in 215 games (at the time: 29 in 162)
Defenseman 1:
Acquired along with 5th for McCann and a 2nd, 4th
Defenseman 2:
Acquired for a bum and a 4th rd pick
In all seriousness, I just think Benning doesn't like 2nd round picks or something |

I believe he's more offensively gifted and has just as good a chance at being a top six center as Horvat. He just doesn't have man-strength yet, Horvat does.
Look he's not small, he's bigger than Joe Sakic was, he just needs strength and I don't like trading away skilled centers when your organization has none.
You've asked me this twice now...do you get what I'm saying? |

I say Dubois. If he is gone see if we can trade with the flames maybe get a 2nd so they can take tkachuk. Then maybe trade again with buffalo for another 2nd so they can jump the coyotes to get the dman they want then at 8 we get 2 additional 2nd rounders and our choice between brown/sergachev/chychrun/joulevi(which of the 3 dmen are left) |

It sounds like you actually expect the Sedins to be gone after 2 years. I say 4 more years. |

Totally off subject:
Just started watching Breaking Bad on Netflix. Saul Goodman just introduced.
I can't believe I didn't give it the time of day when it first aired. Incredible show. I don't know what's going to happen so really enjoying it.
Anyway, good name and avatar. |
