Ya know ---- THAT --- right there is the height of hypocrisy....
5 Years ago the Canucks were winning Art Rosses, President's Cups, 1 7th game final loss --- and some damn good firebrand hockey. But Toronto fans they never won the cup so none of it mattered... yet now all I hear is how the Jays and Raptors are Canada's teams for doing far less than the Canucks did.... I am not pointing my finger at you but you know it is true of the general fanbase in the universe's centre. - Beatle_john
Ya. PEI isn't big on basketball so I don't know much about that.
But I think the fact the Jays and the Raps are the only teams in Canada in their respective sports is why they are considered Canada's teams.
I think most people watched the Nucks in the finals. A lot, I believe where cheering for them.
Things may have changed now, but a few years ago I don't think too many disliked the fanbase.
I could be very wrong though |

We most likely know what we are getting in Gudbranson, but I think it is pretty naive to say with any certainty what McCann and those picks will or will not be at this point. - belcherbd
Ok if you are going to speculate that MCCann is the next Patty Kane , I will speculate that 24 year old Gudbrandson will be the next Zedano Chara |

Smellls of FA. FLA players r pissed he is gone.
Seems to be a warrior & high Character guy by all accounts.
If he embraces Vancouver & steps up as a major leader i can say the 33OA was spent well. If not well we will be here again lol - Nighthawk
Like i said previous i dont think anyone doesnt like the player.. Its more of a why now, this is a deal the oilers should have made as they will be trending up. We are still trending down and will again be a bottom team in the west next season. At the rate we are trading away picks we are never gona have the depth to get back to contender status. |

I can't comment on the rest of Canada, but most non-Vancouver fans I met in AB were pretty anti-Nucks.... though Calgary has had a beef with them for longer than that, so that's not surprising |

It's not clear if you, a Hurricanes fan from Saksatchewan, thinks Benning is doing a good job. Could you please let us know how you feel and how bad the Canucks are? Thanks. - hankthetank

I agree, and I'm happy to have him but its another sign that this mgmt group isn't willing to build and develop slowly. I think I was in denial when WD said a couple of weeks ago that they needed to pick one goal and I erroneously assumed that it could only mean develop. - belcherbd

Is it really worse? You have to open up to trading young players to balance. If you feel JM doesnt fill what you need as a #1 C in the future and you have better winger and bottom C options,,,, then maybe he can help fill the desperate needs in another area with a young player acquired.
I don't understand the single mindedness of building through the draft only. Do you really believe all that we need in the future is going to just roll out of the draft following our priorities and time tables? Draft BPA and consider it a asset... not someone you absolutely have to invest years of development on before you decide if they are what you want. JM isnt the type of player Benning wants as our #1 C so he turned into a young RDinstead. Is it really making it worse in one area? Specially with a most likely draft scenario being a bigger C that Benning really likes and has all the signs of much more upside than McCann in that position. - boonerbuck
Lefty has said over and over draft BPA and later trade for need . Exactly what we did. |

I am starting to think the whole decline of the team is due to him. You cant judge gillis or benning on moves made if the owner is in your face making them for you. It sucks to be honest. |

Pretty much says it all.

No one (me) ever said build only thru the draft, you build a core thru the draft and then you surround them when the time is right. The Canucks don't have a core to surround yet. |

Which would be great if he was actually a top 4 d man. - BINGO!
But he is top 4…that much is obvious. You can't comprehend the obvious apparently but it's ok…many like yourself don't understand and it's not expected of you to….it's just beyond you which is ok too. |

How is trading a 20 year old and two draft picks for a 24 year old and one worse draft pick getting younger? - BINGO!
If you consider what it does to the line up, it can. Who gets bumped out of the D lineup? Also, this takes resigning Hamhuis off the table.
Also, if Benning doesnt want McCann as a bottom 6 C and doesnt think he's a future #1 C,,, then his age is redundant.

Canada's Mens Soccer team is situated in Toronto not Vancouver.
Last time i looked soccer can be played all year long here. |

There's some good players in place, but definitely not enough to call a true "core" yet. At this point in time, Benning can't afford to be giving out picks like candy... |

So gudbranson is worth more than the 4th overall now? Man, you’re going to be disappointed.
Edmonton has nurse/rienhart and potentially gyrba that play the same game as gudbranson. Kinda moot anyways. |
