When u get a seasoned young RH offensive D a 5OA is ballpark.
Takes jam but if a GM sees a fit & the need it makes sense. - Nighthawk
Never would I trade the 5th for barrie. Thats crazy he isnt even a top pari dman on a junk avs team with a bad d. |

Come on, Sbisa isn't that bad. He's not that good either, but he's not a bad player. - micah555
I didn't say anything aboutSbisa being bad or Gudbranson?
I'm saying that those guys had played around 300 games when the Canucks acquired them and by that point regardless of age or draft position you have a pretty decent idea of what the player will be. Sbisa has improved, although marginally IMO, Gudbranson will also improve but what's his realistic ceiling at this point? A more physical Garrison? Willie Mitchell?
Maybe I'm setting my bar low and those guys are useful players but I like the potential of McCann, the 33 and the 123 of getting a more impactful player or players than what Gudbranson is/potential and the 5th.
Who knows, I'm not upset about the trade, I'm just not confident it will work out for us.

Vancouver has no top end prospects like those at forward. |

It would cost Tanev. That's what Linden said today. - VANTEL
Just Tanev for Barrie? in a heartbeat id do that. Have Barrie for offense and Gudbranson as defensive |

I do like Virtanen alot more then Nylander. But no way do we have a prospect who could even touch Matthews or Marner. |

Done!
I would have done this deal any day of the week.
McCann has youth and potential but did not shine for two shifts in a row all season.
I like this trend.... building from the Net out.
Besides... it's obvious now Vancouver will be drafting a forward OR they feel they have more than enough to cover McCann's loss.
McCann's can be replaced. Gudbranson is a huge-dman and a top 4 or 2 pairing... not an easy find.
I agree with Willie Mitchell "WTF!" - Beatle_john
I'm very confused why Florida targeted McCann. They are stacked down the middle so I guess they see him as a 3rd line winger a few years down the road? I'll be very interested how he does in the AHL next year. The Panthers are getting shredded by their fans. Just a few weeks ago their was an article that he may be the future captain |

I am hoping this means edler out for a high 1st and then we sign a replacement through free agency. Get younger add picks then the overall this deal makes way more sense to me. |

I think this is the general thoughts of most. I dont think anyone doesnt like gudbranson its just that we need to start and stock pile the picks and prospects and we are doing the opposite.
It will be an interesting summer for sure.

If that happens, I will switch over to the hate JB side, I like JV as a prospect and hope he has 10+ years as a canuck. - Retinalz
I'm on the fence with JV...I've seen him out in the town a few too many times. Hopefully the org can reel in his partyside so we don't have Kassian 2.0 on our hands |

Edler won't waive his ntc, this has discussed to death. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see more trades along the line of Sbisa and or Pedan |

Lets see what he brings to the table at training camp & forward.
1 offseason he should show he's made strides. |

Never say never. If we threaten to leave him exposed and/or tell him we are going full rebuild he might. I havent heard him say one way or the other. |

I can see Pedan being shopped. |

Expose him then. I'm sure given his laid back personality and lifestyle he'd love playing in Vegas. We're not going on full rebuild based on yesterday's trade. I'd rather see what we can actually do in terms of trades or picks picked up that are going to be possible this off season not in the way distant future. |

"in the end i get to decide for myself. If a team wants a trade then you get to decide whether you want to play for a team that does not want you"- Alex Edler after the trade rumors of his terrible torts season. Doesnt sound like it would be as hard for him to waive as some are saying |

I don't know much about this but Price and Sekeres were just on the 1040 about twenty minutes ago and came right out and said , even argued with a caller that there were more than a few Canuck players that did not like McCann. - VANTEL
But everybody in the know knew that it was a matter of time before Jared slept with Thatchers girlfriend so they nipped it in the bud and shipped that future cancer out now before we were forced to trade a future Vezina canidate. |
