Anyone can read & quote analytics but the eye test not everyone sees the game the same. - Nighthawk
I dont like analytics at all to be honest. I think if your making a trade that you are not quite sure of then use them. Otherwise pointless. |

If you can trade Hansen for a 1st or a 2nd and another pick and sign lucic do you do it? Because I do in a heartbeat - MaWLz
Im all for signing anyone as long as the term isnt long and we can move to some guys to get back some picks. If so this trade looks a hell of a lot better. |

Since July 1, 2015 Benning has traded....
Ryan Kesler
Hunter Shinkaruk
Adam Clendenning
Nick Jensen
Zack Kassian
2nd rd Pick
2nd rd Pick
4th rd Pick
5th rd Pick
6th rd Pick
for
Sven Baertschi
Linden Vey
Lucas Sbisa
Brandon Sutter
Markus Granlund
Erik Gudbranson
Emerson Etem
Philip Larsen
Brandon Prust
3rd rd Pick
5th rd Pick
- BINGO!
Fixed, honestly it doesn't look that bad of a list. - Pres.cup
Proves point on how well JB has done. Gave up 1 full time NHLer and got 7 back, + Prust who was looking good prior to injury and Larsen who might surprise a lot of people.
I don't give much value for draft picks not in 1st round. Kassian is a huge cancerous question mark. Shrink/Clen/Jen are aging prospects in the likes of Schreoder or McNally. |

Exactly, move our assets and just buy some with our cap space.. We get picks back and this trade looks a lot better |

Pedan and Hansen for Montreals two second round picks.
They need a RW - VANTEL
That would be perfect.. I think Hansen would be great out there too.. |

I'm not sure there is a real point to them. To me it's pretty easy if you know what you're looking for to see how a player plays. Especially shots for shots against. |

I would have rather have kept..
forsling over clendenning
shink over granlund-if they didnt want him I would have rather the 2nd rounder we could have got as per benning for this draft and grab benson/clague/johanson, etc
Roland Mckewon over Vey
Rasmus Andersson over Sven - this trade isnt bad
1st and Theodore over the package we got for kesler - not sure if we could have got it
bonino over sutter
There has been many poor decisions made most of which are probably owner ship related. Had we not tried to rush and used free agency for depth players our defense would have some great prospects right now. The gudbranson trade isnt the worst i dont mind it except what is the guy gona cost to resign.

It really isn't that bad of a list. He has filled a gap of players that we didn't have and now do. This is alright. |

Ya like to me if you have a shut down pair of dmen playing against the top lines they are going to have worse stats then dmen getting all offensive zone starts, analytics doesnt take that into consideration like it should also why i think Yosts article was stupid. |

Your grasping here. Forsling was bad. Shink is a wash. the rest isn't even worth mentioning. |

Not at all. We needed Defense and those who are the guys who were taken. Forsling came off dman of the tourny at world jrs and still looks like a good pro. Time will tell but our d would be stocked with prospects two of which were tops in the OHL this year. The only grasp was the kessler trade as that was the package I was hoping for. THis trade we just made would be alot better if we had calgarys 2nd instead of 170 fringe NHLer. |

Sorry meant the forsling deal was bad. Not him. That is the only one that stands out for me enough to pi$s me off. |

Yes he would look good in a canucks sweater sitting in the stands as a spectator...this fascination is as bad as nucker with Kesler... - Makita
he scores and he makes the team harder to play against, his teammates say he's a good locker room guy and teammate. He's ultra competitive, we could use some of that!
What's not to like? Gino Odjick is a hero in Vancouver but he was no angel, neither was Bertuzzi, neither was Bure, etc. but they helped the team win. Bottom line. |

Forsling is 19, Shink is 20-21?
Clendenning sucks, Granlund is a depth player. |

“To be quite honest, I don’t get it sometimes,” said the Canucks GM. “There’s a place for analytics. We use analytics. But you use analytics like vitamins — to help you out, not as your staple.
“Decisions have to be made by hockey people who know what winning teams look like and how to build them.”
"I’ll be perfectly honest with you,” he says. “We won a Stanley Cup in Boston and we didn’t use analytics.”
Benning on the analytics bloggers - LeftCoaster
Yeah, there is so much more to it. Like poor reffing, biased league discipline, preferencial treatment to major markets. Stuff that Corsi will never account for. |

Its not always like that . This year the playoffs has had some pretty good quality ref's. The regular season is hard though the quality isn't always there. |

Reminds me of that movie with Clint Eastwood. Trouble with the curve. There are some things a stat sheet won't tell you. I myself try not to put my two cents in on a player unless I have seen them play. I also like junior hockey because there is more seperation between the good and bad players haha. |
