The other part of the analytics is that it feeds only on limited data of existing performance. There is nothing truly static about a players abilities, so there is no predictive metric about improvement. When the analytics predict break outs for poor performers, you might have something. As it is, all it says is that a player's individual performance might be better that the team results suggest. It's not worthless, but it's not exclusively relevant. |

I'm sorry but I'm not going to look at the last 17 pages to see if anyone has mentioned Van also signing Swedish defencemen Tom Nillson |

Its not always like that . This year the playoffs has had some pretty good quality ref's. The regular season is hard though the quality isn't always there. - thundachunk
I was specifically and bitterly pointing to when the Bruins won the Cup, but yes, reffing is sometimes better than others. |

Entered to the recorded and unappreciated since he's a former Leaf. AHL or worse for him, I'm afraid. |

Better trade some D now. Van has enough for 8 on the team. 8 for Utica. 12 for Kalamazoo |

You are going to go nuts when he signs - VANTEL
No I won't, I try very to be objective over everything canucks, I'm not a professional hockey analyst.
But like everyone here I have opinions, and if lefty and dbot can advocate for the overrated, undisciplined, hothead that's slower than my 6 year old granddaughter, I can do the same and post against the asinine suggestion.
But if JB chooses him, I accept the choice and will call Lucic out like others do to Sbisa, Vey, Hamhuis, Weber...etc.

To hear Yost call it, the guy is a pylon and should barely be in the leg. Gudbranson is Billy Bean (the player) of the NHL.
But he's got 2 hot girlfriends, so at least he isn't short on confidence.

I'd sign Lucic to a short term deal, as long as there's not NTC or NMC and you could trade him down the line. |

I have to be honest.
For the longest time I didn't realize Micah was different from Makita. Didn't pay attention to the different spelling. I always thought it strange that Makita changed his avatar so regularly.
Sorry Micah.
I got to lay off the wacky tobaccy. |

What's the point? if you're a fan of the circus do you freak out when they bring in a new elephant?

As I stated earlier I think lucic is a hothead, I lost whatever respect I had for the meathead when he threatened a Montreal player during the handshake after Boston were eliminated in the playoffs a few years ago.
Also when LA needed him most to make the playoffs he's running around on a personal vendetta and putting his team shorthanded...people think the refs hate Vancouver now...just wait until meathead is signed. |

Agree.
I find Backes has the same temperament. Good players but really easy to throw off their game with a little bit of prodding.
One of the reasons I give the twins so much respect was they rarely ever rattled or fell for the tricks the rats of the league employ. As Lucic’s skills diminish he gets more and more unpredictable. I would rather have Marchand. And that’s not saying much because I can’t stand Marchand.
