This is probably already posted in the previous 30 odd pages, still an interesting read from last year. Advanced stats can be eh eh interesting - 69Mach1
I scanned through the article quickly. Interesting to see and considering he played a lot with Willie who isn't known as a Off D last season. I have higher hopes that playing with Edler or Hutton that, not only can he put a few more points on the board but also allow his partner to be a bit more offensive. |

Everyone is stressing about Yost's advanced stat's article. Who's opinion would you trust on EG, his or JB's? Forget the 2nd we traded. |

I always wondered how much stock is put into that. It is a big problem when teams look prospects. Is it more about attitude as an 18 year old. - manvanfan
It's a combination of a bunch of things usually not just laziness. |

Funny story from Memorial Cup practices at my Arena here in Red Deer...
I had coffee with one of the scouts from London Knights yesterday and he said that EDM is looking HARD at Juolevi for 4th overall. I guess his teammates have been giving him a hard time about being potentially picked by the Oil as even the Oilers are a bit of a running joke amongst the junior players. He's not happy about it apparently.
And since the Leafs have been the laughing stock of the league for the better part of 50 years one has to wonder what Marner and Matthews are thinking... |

I got to admit sometimes I wonder why I agreed to take on this gig (like today), I remember the reason and it was sensnucksnocups having free reign here because Micah555 took on a new job or something and wasn't around as much as was needed at the time. But sometimes I just want to go back to calling out asinine posters instead of being the responsible one... - Makita

I just listened to Noodles & Ferraro talk about Gubranson and they compared him to a guy like Robyn Regehr; RR had less than stellar possession numbers, they said, but he did things analytics can't or don't measure.
His compete level was extremely high, his 50/50 "one on one" puck battles to retrieve the puck were a majority win for him, he was a playoff warrior who was extremely hard to play against, these things are immeasurable by analytics.
Retrieve the puck, get it to Doughty and job done, you're on your breakout...they liked the addition.
However, they didn't like where the Canucks are and the fact Bennng has a third last place team and he's pissing away draft picks when they should be rebuilding. Because in their opinion, the Canucks don't have anyone to score goals (yet) and they're STILL gonna have a very difficult time making the playoffs in the West.

Wow dude...you really need to get over it. Draft picks can be recovered...players like Gudbranson don't come along very often and when they do the cost is high. You'll be ok.

The 2nd was hard to take. But we are getting a 24-25 yr old. Probably safer bet than whoever we woulda got at 33rd. But I woulda preferred to give our 2nd next year instead. Get this 33rd in our system.
My whole issue with this trade is what Guddy is going to demand when he hits RFA status after next season. Trader Jim is going to give a 1 trick pony 5 shmill +
Looks to be a real popular guy in dressing room. Lots of intangibles. But I'm not 100% on board with this move. Boeser and Tkachuk/Dubois can't get here soon enough. |

I see some are still testy after yesterday's sh*t-storm and Trollapalooza. Nice to see how a Canuck trade can bring the HockeyBuzz world together. |

I think they are bang on...it's a great add for us but we need some more prospects...losing the second hurts but we do have two 5ths and 2 7ths I believe. Forsling, Olsen and Gaudette were good late round finds by Benning. Not to mention Brisboius and Tree who he picked in the 3rd. One advantage we have is that Benning has shown he can find talent in any round |

If thats the case then try and accumulate as many draft picks as possible. Instead of trading as many as possible.
Would all the haters feel better if JB had got some more picks at the last TDL?

poopTy Canucks fans would female dog no matter what. No point bringing up the trade deadline. I was saying for months that people would freak out because our scraps are constantly overvalued on here. Nobody wants out trash/ castoffs |

I agree it was steep but that's life for a top 4 D that was taken 3rd overall. If he is worth resigning we will, if not we move on...the 2nd can be recovered...it's not the end of the world.
Benning isn't perfect but I do like what he is doing. He's filling gaps and needs and looking to build from the backend out. with the 5th overall pick guys like McCann and Shink who are questionable by MNGT become expendable assets. Stockpiling prospects is great and all but look at WPG and EDM and even TO...still bottom 10 with super high prospect ratings. I get the fact that guys are pissed here about moving draft picks but it really isn't the end of the world. |

An interesting take. Just goes to show how stats can be skewed to fit the claim. Yost took one set of numbers and identified EG as awful, while this piece tweaks a few things and says that hes actually solid and helps his teammates play better |

I abandoned HockeyBuzz yesterday purely for self-preservation reasons. Safe bet that whenever the Canucks do anything this place will be a horrendous poo-fest. I was looking forward to the draft but am changing my mind and will definitely avoid HockeyBuzz for a few days after the draft. |
