I think we can all agree that the drafts picks going back are a bit of a head scratcher, but Canucks fans should have known this given Benning's previous trades.. Its nothing new. The second part that is concerning is the fact that he turned down 4x18mill. Benning does not have a good history of assessing players value in contracts so it leads me to believe that we will have a 4x20-22.5 year 2nd pairing d-man with little offensive upside (who still could be considered raw with the ability to improve and get better offensively). People can say WHATEVER makes them feel good at the end of the trade about McCann being a locker room cancer, or Gudbranson being a possession/offensive dud, but the trade allowed both teams to fullfill their specific needs.
