Not happening….when the Canucks finish tenth last next year because they have no top six forwards Jim Benning will be fired along with his idiot boss. And unfortunately the process will continue until ownership realizes you have to build a winner through the draft.
And on and on it goes... - LeftCoaster
come on man, I get youre upset but the summer hasn't even started yet. Free agency has a few top 6 forwards to offer, the Canucks have a lot of cap space, they are doing well with their top picks, developing the good young talent they already have, and you might even see a few deals at the draft. Did you miss the idiot boss part? - golfingsince
damn, I thought he was in a purely ceremonial role. I guess they need to put up Naslund or something to replace him |

I don't believe I ever started criticizing leafs moves like you are doing with Benning's? Hey man, 28 years is a long time though, you can always go downtown and pay for it... Sorry to hear that. - Codes1087
You're being awfully sensitive IMO - I simply asked "why" with some rationale behind my position. If you're content with the job Benning has done as Canucks GM I think you're in the minority. You brought up the franchise stuff...this just looks like a bad trade to me in comparison to what you can get without giving up an asset. Gudbranson is a 24 yr old bottom pairing D-man...what's his ceiling? 4/5? What's McCann's? That's all. |

I never stated it was Canucks fans specifically. Look at the last 25 pages over the last 2 blogs though. Pens fans. Leafs fans (obviously). Oil fans. Jets Fans. Everyone is giving their professional GM opinions on how this trade is heavily favored for FLA - Codes1087
Fair enough, I thought you were referring to nux posters.

Tell me something, would it matter if I was content or not? Do my feelings or personal opinion have any type of outcome on Bennings decisions? |

Really? I think I am just fine. I have stated my opinion on how we shouldn't all jump and should take a step back from the ledge, and hopefully Benning doesn't offer him 5 mill a year to play 2nd pairing. I also stated I wasn't a fan of the draft picks involved. I am not quite sure what you are getting at. Being rational on a hockey forum may not be something you leaf fans are used to... |

Well, we'll see how you feel about that when he leaves the front of his net to hit some guy in the corner leaving the goaltender to fend for himself. Happens all....the....time..... - Panthers88
then it's up to the winger or center to support him...I'm really not worried about it. I watched Gudbranson enough to know what we are getting and we need it. regardless of a few mistakes out there. Hit up youtube and watch footage of Edler Bieksa Hamhuis defensive zone coverage over the past few years. Gudbranson is BY FAR the least of our issues out there... |

If the goal is to make the playoffs, its possible that UFA might help us get there. If we are talking about a contender then no I don't think Free agency will help.

I am not quite sure how to relax any more than I am now. Go take a look at twitter, or 1040 for people who are truly being unruly. |

and has traded Kassian, Jensen, Shinkaruk and McCann. All former first round picks.
As well as a very servicable player in Bonino, a couple of second rounds and several later picks. - stormey
Bust...Bust...soft...soft...and Bonino can't skate.
Your point here? |

Why so personal? Hug for you Codes1087. It's a bad trade, and the list of other bad trades by Benning just posted really underscores it. I was there many times in the last decade or so...rationalizing bad decisions because I wanted to believe in my team. Once your favourite org turns the corner and installs a competent front office - like (gasp) the Leafs finally did - you'll be way less grouchy. And that statement passes both the eye and analytics test. |

An AHLer & 2 draft picks hardly earth shattering.
After top 15 the draft is weak.

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet or not. This is the Panthers captain's reaction to the trade:

🙈 WTF
Personally, I'm going to wait and see how the opening night line-up looks before I have a meltdown over a single trade. Lots of things could happen between now and October. |

You seem to know a lot about me, yet this is one of the first times I have seen you poking your head and adding your 2 cents in our blogs
If I hand write a letter to Benning with suggestions on being a GOOD GM, do you think you could sign and mail it for me? |
