I'm onboard with drafting and developing, I'm not onboard with spending assets to improve your team in one area and making it worse in another.
My vision for this team is three four five years down the road, that's the way I see things….not in the immediate like you're saying. - LeftCoaster
This one area u speak of is needed to be addressed.
U want the Oiler rebuild plan of all youth?
Idk if i want to watch losing ad nauseum for 5+ yrs. |

Anf yet all the JB critics think any deal traded future HOFers or top 6 players.
Overreaction about nothing much. - Nighthawk
No, they think that he's made a bunch of trades that don't add any value.
He's overpaying for mediocre at best talent. That's what we're saying, and it's going to hurt in the long term. |

I give up. Good luck next couple years boys. Everything is cool with the 'Nucks. - Deeps27
No everything is not cool. The team sucks and Benning has made some mistakes. He has also done a lot in the 2 years that he has been here and he inherited a mess from the previous management groups. poopty contracts and a ton of NTC's. I am giving Benning some time to try and build something here. You can't turn over an entire roster in 2 years. It takes time. If we are still in the draft lottery in 3 years then I will be the first to slam Benning but for now I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt as he trys to reshape things. |

Haha - I cut and pasted. They are all quick to point out the guys the Canucks traded flaws, but seem to forget about who they got back.
For the record -I'd be very happy to have a guy like Gudbranson on the Leafs 3rd pairing, but not at the price that was paid. - Deeps27
Well they have the picks so why not.
12 picks in one draft is overkill.
An excuse to call it a teardown is all when its a TANK.
Excuses hide lies enough said.
JB stated his plan & is executing it. Its nothing surprising either.
Least the man doesn't min e words & wants to win & I'll take that any day.
I say WD is going to be scrutinized heavily. |

And sometimes it's not. No sure fire way to becoming a good NHL team these days. If it were as simple as tanking for 5 years then becoming a contender then everyone would do it. |

IMO he traded players & picks he sees no prospects of being the future.
He busts his ass burning the midnight oil & signed many UFA's already. |

I feel bad for Willie. Pretty hard to win when your handed a monstrous pile of turds to work with. |

No I've repeatedly said I don't want to rid the lineup of all veteran players, where do you see that I said trade anyone and everyone?
I want Benning to stop trading away second round picks that may turn into something in the future. To me having Gudbranson now is simply meaningless, the team may be slightly better but they still suck, this is not a very good team! |

We r not a bottom 5 team year in & year out.
No reason to change stripes & throw in the towel now.
We need depth as in 1-2 UFA's. Send the mids to Utica & keep hunting down more parts to find some answers. Idc tbh cuz its a hit n miss style & what we try doing.
Nothing has happened to say we mortgaged our future. |

Toronto cups when you only had to win 2 rounds are more comparable to a handjob than actual sex..... |

Brutal trade. Terrible asset managment by Benning. He almost paid as much as Calgary did to acquire Hamilton. 3 teams minimum have way to many Dman, Anaheim, Columbus & Minnesota at least that need to address before the expansion draft.
Gubranson has played 309 NHL regular season games. Putting up 11 goals 32 assists for 43 points & is -49. He has 5 full seasons of NHL experience & played as Florida's #4 last season based on TOI/GP. Was the #1 penalty killing Dman for a team that had the 24th best penalty killing!
In my 35 years of running hockey pools & being a hockey freak this is the most inept management I have ever seen. Linden & Benning have set the Canucks back close to a decade.
I have already cancelled my 2 8K+ tickets for next season |

Exactly….that's my entire point with this whole thing. When I look at where the team is now and where I want it to be down the road, this is a senseless move. |

Yep. He's adding pieces that have little to no chance of being worth more than what he traded to acquire them, at a time when the team is nowhere lose to being a contender.
You can afford to spend when you're in a position to make a run, but they're not. They're not even close, but he keeps acting like they are. |

Some of the big comments coming from these posts over the year was
Top four Dmen don't grow on trees
We don't have the parts to trade for a top 4 Dman
Florida would never trade Gadbrundson
McCann needs to be sent down , he is not ready.
It doesn't matter what JB does. There are a group that hate everything he does and a group that love everything he does. . - VANTEL

This is where people are divided, they see a team that finished 27th in the league, whereas us that followed them know the ridiculous amount of injuries to key players. The team is too good to bottom out without a fire sale, and that isnt going to work with the owners or bandwagon fanbase. They are trying to improve with younger players which is hard.
Without these moves, they finished 10th in the west and an old roster, or they make these trades and finish 10th with young players. Honestly, with a plug or two up front like an Eriksson or Bouwer on shorter contracts and it buys time for Boeser, the 5th pick and other young guys to develop. The team is too good to be bad, and not a true contender, its unfortunate but at least they are getting younger and can improve |

48yrs of disgusting futility & counting.
U were not alive when 4/6 teams made the playoffs.
Since hockey came outta the stone age u still wanna go back there.
No cup finals & 2 1OA to 3 cup finals & no 1OA ever.
Hmm idk i think its a no brainer that success in TO is how full the owners bank account is. Thats the only stat that makes the Leafs relevant. |

Except Sven plays left and boeser right. Hansen plays right.. Granlund will play center over Gaunce. And I think management is banking on Larsen being a puck mover on the 3rd pair |

No need to rush into helping 3 cap crunch teams.
Salary cap space allows us to wait & squeeze deals.
Prime position. RHD r scarce. |
