What do you qualify as a rebuild? Does it mean tanking for 5 straight years and drafting top 10 every year or does it mean taking and old stale roster and replacing it with better players?

If you look at the roster shake up in the last 2 years it's a pretty different team then what is was. As far a good young talent there is Horvat, Baertschi, Virtanen, Boeser and this years 1st.

On D you have Hutton, Tryminkin and Gudbranson. Demko in net.

Instead of going full Oiler there is still a veteran stabilizing presence in the twins, Hansen, Sutter, Edler, Tanev and Miller.

Just because it is not a traditional tank rebuild, does not mean it still isn't a rebuild.

IMO that would be a solid back end. Fix the D sign a top 6 forward and that is a very good start.

There has been many poor decisions made most of which are probably owner ship related. Had we not tried to rush and used free agency for depth players our defense would have some great prospects right now. The gudbranson trade isnt the worst i gdont mind it except what is the guy gona cost to resign.

When the ship is sinking I want JB at the helm doing something.
I'm not going to pick apart his trading but would be pissed if he sat around doing squat. Idc if FA dictates his wishes its his team. It Falls to TL/JB do react & let them do his bidding. That said JB has done a very solid job IMO given his marching orders. After the 1st round idc if 2nds on down r part of any deal if the trade addresses needs. We all know our prospect pool should be deeper but that has been upped pretty good since JB took over. Can not wait to see who the 1-2 UFA's r signed. That alone will clear the muddy waters of what our roster will look like in 2016-17. TBH i want us to not trafe picks &/or move out old past their prime vets. Eg Burrows Higgins. So far i like the makeover & prospects JB has gotten us to.

Lastly we have no cap issues & sit primed to pounce on cap trouble teams.

Faulk pretty surprising compared to some of those D

true totally forgot that he did break 20 this year by getting 3 more goals then colborne. that counts more then the fact that yearly getting more assets.

...same point. a 1st is a big stretch, I'd be happy with a 2nd for colborne and id consider him having more value then hansen

I think Yandle will be getting more then 6 mill at 4 years in free agency. I think the only way he gets signed is Edler gets traded. Benning basically has the though in his head Hutton will be with Gudbranson, planning differently is a reach.

On a side note the canucks are having their first ever draft party, seems odd to have that for picking 5th. Trader Jim must have something up his sleeve, not sure if thats good or bad
