I think we have to look at what Linden and Benning are really saying. We do not have young players. We have young assets.

Sure, and while the EG trade does address a need, the team was also second last in scoring.

That inherent issue/concern/weakness has yet to be addressed.
Unfortunately, outside of the valuable assets we just shipped to FLA, we don't really have anything of value left to ship out in a trade ( that won't prove detrimental to the teams long term success).

The UFA route cannot fix this alone.
Ultimately, I can't help but think that this EG trades turns the Canucks into a bottom 10 team as opposed to a bottom 5 one.

It's only May 28th and a lot can happen still, but you're bang on here, the defense is better but the scoring is still bottom of the barrel.

Henrik and Daniel are the only true top six forwards on the team, that needs to change if they're wanting to compete.

It's more about the impact he has if healthy.

I know i've seen a bunch of posts where he's on the top line with the twins but that's awful deployment if you ask me.

Lucic is already a Canuck. They are just waiting for the day. Bet he signs within the 1st 15 minutes of Free Agency ala Sami Salo to Tampa.

Sutter had 5 last year so they should get 15 more outta him, although they lost 22 goals with Vrbata and McCann leaving.

Some guys should score more but that's basing your offense on a lot of "hope". They need a top six winger in the worst way.

This is how I have felt since the trade. Everyone is so upset at losing picks but this is a great pickup.
