Sutter had 5 last year so they should get 15 more outta him, although they lost 22 goals with Vrbata and McCann leaving.
Some guys should score more but that's basing your offense on a lot of "hope". They need a top six winger in the worst way. - LeftCoaster

Sure, and while the EG trade does address a need, the team was also second last in scoring.
That inherent issue/concern/weakness has yet to be addressed.
Unfortunately, outside of the valuable assets we just shipped to FLA, we don't really have anything of value left to ship out in a trade ( that won't prove detrimental to the teams long term success).
The UFA route cannot fix this alone.
Ultimately, I can't help but think that this EG trades turns the Canucks into a bottom 10 team as opposed to a bottom 5 one. - Whiskey-Tango
Why don't you wait till you see the finished roster before you jump all over. UFA will address is , more trades will. Rodin , top 5 pick , Boeser will address it in the future.
We didn't give away our last draft pick ever and our best scorer. |

If JB could somehow recoup that 2nd rounder, which won't be easy, it would go a long way to calm down all the "trade experts". - VanHockeyGuy
Who are you hoping to get in the s cond round? Who caught your eye there? |

This is how I have felt since the trade. Everyone is so upset at losing picks but this is a great pickup. - thundachunk
I loved the trade the minute it broke. When I saw the picks involved I knew it would be a huge freak out session in here. |

Doesn't matter who it is, what matters is who it could be. You can't build if you don't have picks, bottom line. |

They fell apart in the playoffs without him. I would think Fleury is more likely. - Retinalz

Why don't we trade for him instead of getting into a bidding war in July? - VanHockeyGuy
Nucks have about 10 million to spend, give it all to him |

It is not hard to pick up or trade for a top 6 player that will score more than 12 goals. Same with McCann I hope we can replace those 9 goals . |

I think if people watched the panthers in the playoffs this season they would agree this is a good deal. I was chatting with someone in here at the time about how he would be a great pick up. Vantel or Booner maybe? I don't remember. I am really happy about this. |

Yes it is...in my opinion. You've gotta find one that's willing to come to a poopty team, Lucic would score 20 though...well probably not with Sutter as his center. |

We just did. A prospect and a couple of picks for a much needed big, tough, rugged stay at home young defenseman. That's asset management to me. |

So we haven't been building in the last two years? Do I really need to pull out the list again? |

It's great they got a guy like him, it's not great that there's so many other holes to fill now and even more so in the future. |

Eriksson is probably the most logical FA, if he takes a 2 year deal.
I never really pencil in lineups, but projecting he signs here's what we have.
Sedin-Sedin-Eriksson- 65 goals
Virtanen-Horvat-Baertschi - 45 goals
Rodin-Sutter-Hansen - 45 goals
Dorsett-Granlund-Etem -20 goals
Vey.
That's a fairly reasonable projected 175 goals out of your top 12 forwards, whereas we scored 191 as a team last year. I think a case could be made that the top 3 lines could produce more. Regardless, you would need 41 more goals to achieve an increase of 25 goals. |

So it isn't good asset management to sign a sure thing hopefully that is with us for 10 years for a project player that had issues and and a maybe NHLer draft pick? |
