None of those guys are comparables to Hansen. Ladd would be the closest.

a glorified third liner being carried by top 6 guys?
- LordHumungous

That play with 12 seconds left last night shows what kind of a player Bonino is. That was (frank)ing awful.

I don't think it is that easy to replace what Hansen brings at 2.5 not to mention the benefits of chemistry and familiarity with the systems.
- belcherbd

I kind of agree that Hanson has turned into a great all 4 -line utility guy but I doubt he fits into JB's long term picture. Over an 82 game sched away from the Sedins Hansen is a 12-15 goal guy that is perfect for any third line in hockey. If we can get that first fot him Benning has to look at it. Has to.

Is Benning involved with Linden selling eyeglasses too?
- DeflatedPucks

No, but he might help Tie Dummi to sell phone cards.

Trading for and signing all these D-men must be destroying Subban's feelings.
- A_SteamingLombardi

Good, and I hope so. The one thing that seems to keep going unsaid is the amount of competition young players need to light a fire under their ass and prove to management they have what it takes. Last year was that was a huge reason why McCann and Virtanen made the team. They had little competition and maybe Willie felt that was the downfall of the team. Basically handed a roster spot due to injuries in other cases. At least now when the time comes they have more to evaluate and it will push those guys to step up. I'm not saying the prospect pool is amazing but its a ton better than it was.

He did the one thing you are told not to do in a close game. Could have killed the puck along the boards, or skate to center and dump it in... instead he tried to score from his own blueline and iced the puck. Just a brutal play in a one goal game 7.

Maybe but I think usually those players don't fetch a 1st.

McGinn got a 3rd.
Versteeg a prospect and a 5th
Hudler a 2nd and a 4th
Purcell a 3rd
Matthias a 4th

Ladd plus scraps did get Dano and a 1st though.

- belcherbd

Hudler is older and UFA. Hansen is younger, has term and very affordable. He is worth more than Hudler. Hansens value is likely in between Hudler and Ladd. So a 1st or a 2nd+3rd would be about right.

I've been pretty critical of how they "developed" JM and JV last season but McCann no doubt won a spot out of camp over Vey, Jones, Cracknell and Friesen who were his competition.

I agree. Very underrated player.
- WhatTheNuck

Classic case of Canucks fans overrating our players. He isn't a 20 goal scorer, he scored 20 once playing with the Sedins.

We rarely agree but you seem to be able to value our assets at least

I think the massive homerism in Van contributed to fans always being disappointed

Naw. Bonino was 61% in FOs. The Pens were killing TB in the circle.

Bonino just put the Pens in a position of strength.

he wasn't trying to score. he was trying to lift over hedman rather than skate in one a 2-on-1 empty net and iced it

So a guy that scores 20 goals isn't a 20 goal scorer because he did it with the Sedins... This is some pretty good logic.

Did you know that Hansen was 4th in the league in even strength goals per 60 mins?

I hope hansen gets a 1st. that means colborne could fetch the same being that he has similar numbers, he's younger and plays wing

....in other words. a 2nd is a stretch
