I agree, I think that this was sprung on him and he needed to act quick if he wanted to make it work.

Although I did read on HF, no proof though, that Edm and Toronto were rumoured to be involved with apparently Edm offering Yak and the 32nd.

Price is definitely reasonable, I'm still not sure that it is the best move going forward though.

I hope hansen gets a 1st. that means colborne could fetch the same being that he has similar numbers, he's younger and plays wing

Don't forget he avergaed 26mins in playoffs, first 2 games were over 30mins played. a trash #6 dman(like some people call him) don't eat up those kind of minutes in playoffs. The fact that he was used on PK more than anyone else and in defensive situations more than anyone else. Stayed a +/- 0 after losing a series 4-2 says something about his ability to defend. Shot differential means very little. Look at how many garbage shots Vrbata took last season. Same with Higgins.

I think it was done quickly so that Edmonton wouldn't get wind of it because they could have, obviously, out bid the Canucks.

I'm not saying those players a exact comparables of each other but I think it is a stretch to say Hansen is a better player than Hudler even if you take into account the age difference and Hansen will be a UFA after this season as well.

McGinn, Purcell and Versteeg IMO are the closest comparables off that list.

Those are all Ufa trades, Hanson has 2 more years on a very cap friendly deal. If versteeg had another year left on his contract and was cap friendly then he would have gotten a first plus.

If he can trade Hansen to the Capitals, Blues, Kings, Ducks or whomever for a 1st then I'm totally fine with giving up the 2nd round pick to get Gudbranson.

I agree that if we get Dubois, there is no need for McCann. Not sure why this trade couldn't wait until we found that out, but I guess he was pressured into it.

I agree, basing it off one season would be silly and why I am saying that they both slot in the 3-4 spots. If I were to base it off one season of Hutton I would have no problem saying Gudbranson slots in as our 4th best D.
