Every kid is different if Murray passes on him simply because he's from Russia, I really wouldn't want him to be the GM - mattmoulson
I agree.
I dont necessarily think Murray hates Russians. Unfortunately things often have to go in their favor and conditions need to be perfect for them to be happy here. So I think they just need to do their due diligence with the kid and find out if hes really going to adapt or react favorably to living and playing in Buffalo. |

Well put. GMTM always said that if a player is getting passed on the depth charts he'll look for an option for them if it helps the sabres.. Ex. Grigo, Adams, Mcnabb (pysyk, girgs,Franson???)
Zads..I don't think he hated zads at all. He often mentioned how he wished he played more with ted. Imo "you gotta give to get" (#89) and that what got him what he wanted. |

I sincerely hope he doesn't hate them, but he's had 2 drafts where he hasn't taken one, and he traded the two in the organization.
I want to like Murray, but he just comes off as a really stubborn GM. He literally seems to only target players he used to like or liked coming out of their draft year.
He mentioned how he loved Kane and O'Reilly when he was in Ottawa, he loved Lehner and needed to get him. He was a key player apparently in getting Ryan to Ottawa, a guy he was familiar with from Anaheim.
Seems very narrow minded. |

I'd really like it they traded Girgensons for a fair deal. I think there is potential for him to be a consistent 30-40 point third liner energy guy. But not so sure that he has a spot there this year if they keep Foligno and Gionta. He also doesn't look like a fit with Bylsma. Either that or he was playing injured. It was like looking at a completely different player this season. This is likely his last chance at getting any value for him. If he plays like he did last year again his value will be zilch. Need a fair deal for him though which could be tricky. Either way I think Foligno and Girgensons fill the same role and with such only one should be on this team in September. |

Well the big sell on him was his eye for talent/drafting. Had to figure that his success in that area would give him a large ego. Which is fine as long as he winds up being right |

I agree with that and the Kane and Lehner trades definitely look like he wanted the guy regardless of what he had to give up.
It's definitely more fun than the Regier approach, and typically the team that gets the best player wins the deal |

I think the fact that he's the opposite of Regier is going have a lot of people turn a blind eye to bad or questionable moves.
I mean, it's great that he doesn't hesitate to pull the trigger, but what if we had Drouin and he demanded a trade? How does Murray handle it? We don't know yet |
