That's fine, I have no problem with Benning and Linden misleading the public. If they are too transparent then it will give other clubs an advantage - CanuckDon
I don't have a problem with it either. I can see him trading the pick under the right circumstances, which is fine with me. |

It's very rare that a team trades down from the top 5 but I suppose it's possible. I'd just be surprised as he has spoken very fondly of Tkachuk and Dubois in the past. Perhaps if he is really high on Keller or Jost |

Its their job to be elusive. JB is one of the more forthcoming of GM's. Lefty is right when you never really can tell if he is actually half retarded or playing the game. |

He is a nice prospect but this team desperately needs top line young talent. Scoring need > defensive need - CanuckDon
So they can lose like the oilers? |

Sure, if the offer isn't there than stick with the script and pick your guy at 5th. I just don't see a gap large enough in talent to not move down if the deal is right. |

All things said I still want Dubois. |

One thing I keep hearing Benning say is we need big players to play in the west. Tkachuk or Dubois . Book it. |

The only way I see the Canucks even CONSIDERING trading down is if a team gives them a bonified blue-chip 1C prospect. One in the hand is worth two in the bush as the saying goes. Whether it's Tkachuk or Dubois, they are blue-chip prospects, no team will give that up unless they're getting a blue-chip in return and right now, we desperately need a blue-chip 1C prospect (which is Matthews first, Dubois second in this draft). |

Given my choice i'd rather AZ's picks, with a slight uptick in price to us. Then i'd flip #7 for 14 and SJ pick. |

with McDavids recent public appreciation of Tanev why not put a package to try and get the 4th to go with the 5th , i guarantee that Conner's opinion has weight and Tanev would come in and instantly be an assistant captain on that team... |

Dubois is not a bonafide blue-chip 1C prospect...... |

Whoever they take at 5 i'm okay with. The trade return in the event we move down is more of a concern. |

He is the best Center after Mathews. I would call that as Bluechip as it gets. |

I wasn't comparing D, I was comparing teams. Van has needed scoring help for who knows how long and they keep drafting forwards in the first round. Maybe it's time we draft a D that can help the offence. |

That doesn't make him a 1C prospect... He may become a 1C, he may play C. Blue-chip 1C prospect implies he's a can't miss future 1C. |

What if someone other than Benning negotiated the trade? |
