For those wanting the Canucks to trade down, please remember, teams that do that are like the Oilers who have more than enough top-end talent up front that one more makes little-to-no sense since there's not enough playing time for all of them and they need those depth/secondary players who are just one step below top-end on a good team. We sorely lack that blue-chip top end talent up front, so trading down for a secondary player (which we have more than enough of: see Gaunce, Grandlund, Vey, Hansen) makes no sense.

You should start cheering the Jets

I see nothing but disappointment here for years to come.

Kirk McLean will be thrilled!!

Actually, he kind of fits the Benning mold.

BPA...we have Benning drafting, no Yakupovs in our future
- CanuckDon

Yakipov himself was only part the his problem. I mostly blame Kevin Lowe.

Lol I do cheer for the jets when they aren't playing the canucks.

I see a GM who has to deal with horrible fans and idiotic media in Vancouver. Just needs to stop getting rid of the young players. A Jensen for Etem trade fine. Even Shink for Granlund but just too many draft picks are not being given a chance, including the ones van has never made.

We are just messing around. I have clearly stated I want Dubois and BPA al the way.

I would certainly call Dubois a blue chip prospect...you are arguing for the sake of arguing
- CanuckDon

There's a difference between a blue chip prospect and a blue chip 1C prospect.

Matthews is a blue chip 1C prospect, as was Eichel, McDavid and Tavares, Stamkos, Seguin etc.

Seeing as how 1C is arguably the most highly sought position in hockey (1D), if he was a can't miss 1C he'd be ranked higher than 4/5.

We'll get plenty of more chances at high end talent. Seeing as how there are no clear cut guaranteed top line players and we have a drafting guru I'd be more than happy with the extra 1st round pick(s).

He is a blue chip prospect. Whether you think he is a C or a Lw is another debate entirely. Benning sees him as a center so I do as well

Shink for Granlund is a stinker. Can't win them all. The rest of them win or lose had a purpose.

So far it appears so...but I'll give the trade a year to see has much Granlund can grow his game. I certainly don't miss Shink but Granlund hasn't looked good

So you want 2 Gaunces, instead of a Horvat? That's what you're saying, think about it, do we really need more secondary players when we've got a huge glut of them? I'd prefer the top-5 talent who has the higher potential ceiling and skill myself.

Yeah Shink was not going to play here, but that return is a head scratcher. There had to be more to it that meets the eye.
