So you want 2 Gaunces, instead of a Horvat? That's what you're saying, think about it, do we really need more secondary players when we've got a huge glut of them? I'd prefer the top-5 talent who has the higher potential ceiling and skill myself. - DariusKnight
Yes, only Gaunces are selected late in the draft.
Do you want 1 Nedved? or a Perry and a Getzlaf?
Holy (frank), it's not as simple as you make it. |

JB responses are a field day for the media. He did say he's getting a new core, so I guess we get the core then they get the 5 years of top 5 picks. |

I like Dubois, but I trade the pick if a good deal is offered.
Look how much draft projections change over a year. Aside from a few can't miss guys, people slide up and down all the time. It wasn't that long ago people were calling for Gauthier top 5. |

Do you see a Perry or Getzlaf in this draft after the top 5? That's Tkachuk and Dubois come to think about it. It is as simple as that, I'll say it again, I'd rather have one in the hand than two in the bush. Those two mythical picks in the 10-20 range (which is what I'm assuming you'd like us to trade 5OA for) MIGHT and I stress MIGHT be as good or better than 4-9 but it's rare and usually that's a combination of a) the right system, b) a player that found more talent than he showed previously c) the right coach and d) might have dropped due to injury/personal issues/bad chemistry with linemates. I don't see any of the 10-20 fitting that criteria and when you're in the spot we are, you can't take that chance. We're not the Oilers looking to take that next step, we need all the top talent we can get. |

This looks like it is going to be a very painful series for the smaller more skilled Pens |

Oh, i'm pretty sure they would have gone higher in 2003 if they were easily visible then.
If you read, I was advocating for a possible trade with AZ for the 7th and 20th. Then I also advocated trading that 7th for the 14th and and 29th/30th. Of course, those aren't stand alone deals.
You keep talking about Dubois and or Tkachuk about being one in the hand, yet neither has played a game in the NHL. So tell us, which one is going to be better ?
Stop acting like the draft is an exact science, if it was we would have won a cup by now.

Yes. I would . A ready now skilled third overall.
A previous third overall for a first round pick. That should go over well in this city. |
