We have a GM who's pedigree is supposedly in drafting. If we can land additional first round picks for our 5OA i'd trade down in a heartbeat.

The AHL team you mention is the exact reason. We'll also need 2nd line, 2nd pairing guys down the road which we are void of. We will have plenty of opportunity to get top line/pairing talent as we continue to suck.

- golfingsince

I'd argue that we won't suck as bad next year as we did this year, so if we're going to go for top-end talent, now is the time to get it. Next year we're going to be in that marginal spot of being 9/10 in the West which doesn't bode well for moving up in the draft lottery and the next couple of drafts aren't supposedly very strong with high end talent.

SMBDragon will coach him into putting himself into better positions offensively. Have no fears.

Screw coaching, how about a Surrey 3some

Do you guys remember when Nucker was very, very vocal about us trading up for Reinhart ?I'm pretty sure he wanted us to trade up to #1OA.

I'm also pretty sure Thunda was saying Draisaitl would be better, I was saying Bennett would be better, DCT was saying Ehlers would be better. I wanted Nylander at our draft position.

Anyways, the point is that there are very few can't miss prospects in any given draft. It's not like he have the 1st or 2nd pick. We have the 5th, and a GM who's strength is apparently drafting. I'd rather him have more than 1 first rounder.

By the way, All-Star Dylan Larkin went 15th.

- golfingsince

Well you can play this game with any draft year. We need to draft whoever our GM believes is the closest to a 1st line guarantee. We all do t have extraordinary hindsight like many Canucks fans

Once the Sedins retire, we'll have a couple of rough years. Even if Dubois turns into an eventual 1C, it will take years IMO. We're pretty void of talent coming up, and pretty reliant on goaltending to win games.

At this stage, we're counting on all of our top prospects to make an impact at the NHL level.....it's not very realistic.

You should start cheering the Jets

I see nothing but disappointment here for years to come.

My point exactly.

If you're going hunting, do you want 1 bullet or 3?

So start now. Pull the band aid this year . If this team is as horrible as everyone is predicting why not move Edler and the Twins. Honestly what is the difference between finishing 28 or 30 . Three extra first round draft picks?

4 first round draft picks.

I think you guys are going to eat you words . Take our fifth , make a trade to get you other Dman required and we will be fine.

Actually, it is realistic, that's why you draft them, you aren't drafting someone in the 1st round not to make an impact. Seriously dude, you don't draft someone without the expectation that they're going to minimum reach their floor with the hope that they end up reaching their ceiling. You draft players in the first round that at least have a floor of 3L/2L and if you're lucky to be top 10/top 5 you expect that player to be a star in the league and if they aren't, then you obviously didn't do enough homework on them. We need stars, not the Hansens or Baertchi's of the world.

I'd rather move the 5th plus for OEL than try this band aid poop we've been doing.

Actually, it isn't.

Here you can find all of our first round picks.....ever.

You could make a pretty good team if you used all of them.....ever.

I hope we take Dubois and am hoping he turns into a Monahan situation. Its a reach yes but its happened before. Would defiently soften the blow for Henrik leaving

No, what you implied ( once again) is that you knew more about coaching then other posters.(me) That's why you were dragged into it in the first place. If you don't want to get laughed at, then maybe tone down the attitude.

Im just excited for the season, two free agents who are likely going to be 2/3 of Eriksson/Lucic/Brouwer. With that being said Hansen should get traded.

Isn't Dubois' experience at C pretty limited? I still like the pick, but he probably won't be filling Henrik's skates.
