I don't mind Brouwer but I don't want to give him term or a pile of money.

Sorry, had to flag you. Your Sutter obsession is very disturbing and you aren't welcome here
- CanuckDon

I don't think you get to determine where I am and am not welcome, good sir.

Sutter was a cap dump to the Hurricanes to replace Eric Staal.
- fiveandagame

Please no.

Though he probably IS better than E.Staal at this point. Or close to even.

In the right conditions Staal could be really good again.

Good depth player, but yeah, I would be very wary of the length of contract you give him.

Of course if he wants to be a Canuck he'll probably come a bit cheaper than he otherwise would, hopefully.

Higgins money for a couple seasons and I am okay with it also.

I dunno. He doesn't skate like he used to. Underlying numbers are there, but he used to get his points on sheer shot volume. He doesn't create chances like that anymore. Needs to develop his game into more like Shane Doan to stay afloat, I think.

Wouldn't sign him to more than a 3 year contract.

Put him with a couple fast wingers and he will be fine and have him on the PP.

Did that and he couldn't keep up. He's good at recovering loose pucks but he can't receive a pass in transition to save his life.

Lindholm's numbers suffered because of how often Staal whiffed on passes both to and from him.

I would say E.Staal would benefit better from slower linemates, not faster ones at this point.

He's definitely a few steps slower now.. I would want nothing to do with him personally.. Especially out west... He's a complementary player now

Yep. Somebody is going to pay too much for too long for him, and they're welcome to him.

I'd take him back but for no more than $3.5 million per for a couple years.

I bet he would do that just to be back in Carolina.

God knows we gotta spend a wack of money this offseason.

Need a goalie and at least one damn expensive forward just to hit the cap floor.

Me watching the Q has nothing to do with the team I follow.

Seriously, what the (frank) is wrong with you guys? Do you have access to schools? Honestly, it blows my mind. I want to visit the West Coast, but I'm scared it's gonna be like the Purge

Chill out walshy, you make it sound as if the entire province of BC is out to screw with you...with your "what the (frank) is wrong with you guys" A_SL is not you guys, grow some thick skin...

re: Brouwer.

seems like a classic case of buying high.
He's durable, scores goals and hits.
Perfect, let's sign him and watch him get a 'fluke' injury that sidelines him for the majority of the season...kinda like Sutter.

I'd like him on the team still in a 2nd/3rd line role...replace Hansen who we trade for a high 2nd rounder.
Asset management ya'll.

Do you remember the Rhinoceros Party? They proposed bulldozing the Rockies as a way to promote national unity. Maybe we need the same thing for HB - a Canucks/Leafs (probably Leafs/Canucks now that I think about it) national unity thread. This would be a safe place where we can come together to share best practices on rebuilding, learn about how to grab broads from New Westminister, talk about our mutual dislike of Jim Hughson (pro-Canuck and pro-Leaf at the same time) and generally make fun of the Oilers.

I'm prepared to commit my time and energy to make this real. I will stay here and invite all my Leafy friends until Ek agrees to create a joint thread.

You're welcome.
