We need high end talent to replace the Sedins, trading down doesn't get that done.

He also outscored Matthews at the WJC...he is 6 months older than PLD who is one of the youngest players near the top. It's a factor but I don't think it's overly concerning

Jordan Schroeder was a WJC beast!

I have concerns about Tkachuk. He's one of the older players in the draft, and had excellent linemates to help build his totals. I think he's the type of guy that gets drafted too early.

Top end of this draft is weaker then most, last season he would have probably went 8-12 range if not higher.

I think after the top 3 picks it's pretty balanced for the next 10 or so picks. A guy like Clayton Keller who is a little smaller has some serious skills, but he's probably 3 years away from playing NHL.

Edit: If a team like MTL really wants Dubois or the Yotes Tkachuk, I don't see a big problem with moving down a few spots and grabbing the extra asset(s), as long as they merit the move.

We are overthinking this. It is either Tkachuk or Dubois.

I don't think so. Draft history is littered with guys outperforming people selected ahead of them.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Benny picked Logan Brown.

Kirk McLean will be thrilled!!

Actually, he kind of fits the Benning mold.

Id be a little pissed if he took him at 5, when we could trade down to 9-12 for him. Dubois is likely the one we will pick if not taken at 4

We overthink everything. Both will help the team in a way that Van needs.

Oilers won't have that pick. They will trade it as a part of a deal for a defencman.

I know we will take one or the other. I am more interested of all the wheeling and dealing that will be done at the draft by all the teams

Then adjust his stats to reflect his linemates. He plays with Marner and Dvorak as a rookie because he is that good. Have you watched many of his games? People complain about his skating but he has had a sprained ankle for a month. The kid is the complete package. Most of the top 15 ranked players are within a 5 month age gap. I think you are placing too much emphasis on this. He has size, strength, high IQ and pretty slick hands/ shot. I think he will be be a first line winger for sure

Everyone is saying Tkachuk is better. I don't buy it. I have Dubois as 4.

I don't see those two are better or worse then one another. I see them as equal. Will just depend on whether or not you want a center or a LW.

Side note, Bryan (fernando pisani) Rust.... hot hot hot. and now connor who?

I'm not against it. I kind of like their rankings.

I still believe Laine may end up becoming the lesser of the Finns. They have Nylander ahead of both Dubois and Tkachuk.
