I said that when the Leaf fans were on here a few days ago, just to piss them off I can't see him trading for his rights as of now but maybe things change as the month moves along.

Not one of those players you mentioned are worth 6 mill a year, Okposo and Ladd are high if they think they are getting that. I would pay Eriksson that much.

Montreal!!!?? How they are 1M OVER the cap already. They'd have to gut their team deeply.


I still think it comes down to us or Detroit. Stamkos has to see that Detroit is heading towards a rebuild though. Great prospects but they need vet help and themselves have VERY little cap space.

I don't think there needs to be a backup plan at all. If you can't get a guy at your number, so be it. Don't overpay for a guy's slot on your team.

I didn't say they were worth 6M. I just said those could be guys targeted if Stamkos doesn't come to Buffalo as we all hope.

Signing McGinn is a high priority for them though so I wouldnt rule that out...

Look for McGinn, Stammer, Vatanen/Fowler and Okposo..they want to grab at least one new winger and one d man we know of..with johnson expected to leave via FA they will try to replace him via trade as they dont see Ullmark as ready yet...so its either grab a FA goalie which is a pretty loaded pool for back up goalies (could even mean johnson comes back) or appproach it via trade like Darling...

I don't think there needs to be a backup plan at all. If you can't get a guy at your number, so be it. Don't overpay for a guy's slot on your team.

Lehner's contract is peanuts right now with RFA after it. He showed plenty of glimpses of great play this year. Consistency as a team and a nagging ankle pulled him down. I was very impressed with him for over a month as our starter.

It's peanuts right now but they weren't pleased with his year this year overall and all the injuries. If he get's injured frequently again this year they may cut ties with him instead of signing him to an extension. Make or break year for him.
