Paying Franson 3.325M to play like a bottom pairing guy isn't fair for him. He is basically a reincarnation of Mike Weber but way overpaid. Keep him on the bottom pairing.. he lines up a few hits.. his legs are past his prime. No one cares. But look at his salary and people start losing their minds. - MillerTime1130
He's much better than Weber. He actually can score and play the PP. He's just like a statue |

Not sure if already posted but
19. The Draft Combine is being held in Buffalo this week. One rumour: the hometown Sabres are looking at a contract extension for GM Tim Murray. I believe he’s entering the final year of his contract, so that makes sense. (Murray did not respond to a request for comment.)
And
4. Andy Strickland, the Blues’ Rinkside host, suggested Buffalo, Columbus and the Rangers as possibilities for Brad Shaw, who left his associate coach role rather than accept a one-year extension.

Not the rumors about Buffalo I was hoping to read...
Other draft related points in the article.. Sounds like Arizona is definitely going defense in the 1st round and will be active as well (fellow competition) in trading for defenceman and taking on larger contracts
Sounds like both Vancouver and Calgary want Dubiois. Calgary in particular want a bigger power forward. (Nylander isn't that type of player) Maybe if Vancover takes Dubois Calgary takes a defenseman or reaches on a player like Brown? Would leave Nylander in our laps. |

I've read quite a few scenarios where we got to pick between Nylander and Chychrun or Sergechev.
From what I've read Sergechev seems to be the best DMan available that fits what we need with all around game. |

I'll be furious if we pass on Nylander if he's there. I like segechev better than Chyrchrun in terms of playing style the latter has been compared to Bogosian by a certain TSN annalists. That being said he fits the style Murray likes better and is probably a better scout (something Murray takes into account) I bet it's Chyrchrun but if Nylander is available hopefully Murray does the right thing |

The big criticisms that I've read about Nylander are his questionable defensive skills. 6'0 and 176 lbs could be hard in the NHL as well.
Some analysis I read this morning had Chychrun as the best defensive guy of the 3 DMen and with the highest ceiling. Even that he will challenge for multiple Norris Trophies. His offensive game is not improving how you'd want though. Plus has shoulder injury past.
Sergechev is the best offensive polished guy in the group but makes mental errors a lot as well and has the Russian factor. He is also a bigger project. However, he is listed as a big strong elite level skater.
I think that if we get to pick between those 3... we can't really go wrong. I like Juolevi the least. |

Really? Jouelevi seems like the most polished. I think he goes 6-7 anyway. I don't care about Nylander's defensive deficiencies. If you put him with Eichel and Reinhart they can make up for that and score goals |

As of right now it basically says that Jouelevi isn't the offensive star as Sergechev nor the defensive power as Chychrun. He is well rounde don the ice. Says his hockey sense, game understanding, and first pass are VERY good. Says he has great composure and calmness in key situations.
Maybe... but I really don't think we can go wrong. I think any way we go we will get a star for years to come. |

The mock draft on NHL.com even has us taken the center Jost over Chychrun and Sergechev. That seems like a reach to me. |
