I don't quite get the no minimum salary bit. Why is that bad for us? - bluengold12
Sorry I meant no minimum total salary to be exposed by teams. It was rumored that it was every team had to expose 25% of their cap in salary.
I'm not sure why either of those are bad for us either. |

I just... Too easy sometimes.
If Bailey even plays 30 games next year I'd be surprised. And if he does I'd think he'd be protected or traded. We can play that game in a few weeks when the parameters are announced on the 22nd, but until then it's just speculation, even more so than there will be once we know what the rules are. |

I think it will be settled that 2nd year pros means actually completed two years of professional hockey therefore guys like Bailey and more importantly Eichel/Reinhart will be exempt. Of course we don't know the official ruling and the two slime buckets Daily and Bettman I'm sure will stammer about wanting players like McDavid and Eichel to have to waste a spot but the simple fact is a 1st year pro should be considered someone who just finished there first year when in fact the rookies drafted next year and signed to their contract are still prospects. |

I hope Bailey is full time. He has speed and skill. Let him play a bottom 6 game for a year or two and see what we have.
I honestly have no interest in keeping guys like Legrand or Moulson around anymore. |

Its not. I was thinking a guy like ennis making 4.5 would be more likely to be exposed, but being able to only protect 7/3/1 or 8/1 will leave some decent players out there either way. It gives us more options at least. |

Gotta respect the Pens logic of shooting the puck whenever you have the slightest opportunity. It's led them to this point and they don't shy away from it. They're going to win another cup with the concept of Shooting will lead to goals rather than trying to pass it around and wait for opportunities to present themselves. Cudos to them. Too bad for Maruleu and Joey, don't think they'll be seeing that cup anytime soon |

Legwand plays a different role than Bailey. 4th line center. Moulson will likely be impossible to move. If anyone it would be it would be Moulson, but I just don't see him moving next year.
I can see Bailey making the team, but if we're adding 2 or 3 guys up front I just don't see a place for him. |

I'm going to go on good faith here and assume the owners force the corrupt commissioner to consider second year players as those who've completed their second year. With that considered my best guess would be...
O'Riley, Kane, Ennis, New player, Girgensons, Foligno, New player
Risto, McCabe, Bogosian, New player
Goalie
That would leave for sure Larsson, Moulson, Gorges |

Hard work above all else. The pens are simply out working every team in the post season. Watching the sharks nonchalantly back pass in their zone and watch a pens player skate as hard as he can and put his stick down to create a turnover seems to be the trend in these two games. But they are winning in every aspect, grit, skating, hitting, use of their sticks and of course getting pucks on net, even if its a low percentage of going in |

It's speed. Plain and simple. They are winning every race and suffocating San Jose.

Speed is key, but even if you have speed, if you dont' have the drive to get there you won't. I really like there shot process the most however.
I remember when pundits were saying that Joel Quenville was out of his mind for demanding 30+ shots a game and being upset when they didn't, even if they won as, simply shooting pucks on net will not win games. He has 3 cups. The pens are using that same logic and looks like they're well on their way. They'd rather have 40 shots and only 10 of them clean crisp open lane shots as opposed to 20 shots and only 5 clean shots and I really respect that way of thinking. The OT goal is a perfect example. Just turn and shoot, who cares whose in front of you. He knew there was trafic, so he took a chance and won.
If your going to shrink the goalie pads than start taking advantage of odd angle shots, deflections and loose pucks from rebounds as whacking at those rebounds can easily go in through the smallest space between pads |

They traded for his rights.
In essence, the Colorado Avalanche sent the Yotes a 2nd round pick + for Boedker. Colorado figured they had 2 2nd round picks and gave the Yotes the much later one. The Yotes were never going to sign him anyways. Which seems a bit odd to me, considering he was a former 1st round pick, not sure you lose anything by signing him to an ELC and see how he develops in the A. |
