Look, let's put it this way .............. if Kane is sucking he is bringing down the entire team. I think the guy breaks out next year and everyone will be screaming for Murray to give him an extension. I think he likes it here and would do it.

Kane came here with high expectations and the thought that he would straighten out. Neither really happened.

No hate for him at all. I want him to do well but I also don't really want to give him a contract extension that includes a pay increase when we have to worry about Eichel, Reinhart, Risto (hopefully Stamkos )

If he performs he makes the team better .......... I would agree that if we had to make a decision TODAY whether or not to extend him it would be a tough decision. Fortunately we are not in that position and by the time we are ........... I don't think it will be a tough one to make either way.

Kassian was a great prospect then we found out he was Johnny football

whether they were reaches or not, from 2005-2007 they drafted two first round picks who never made it to the nhl and traded away their other one...mike weber and jhonas enroth were the only players to have a sustained nhl career...that's three years of veritable nothingness for the club...

You know the thing is .......... most teams in the NHL can say the same thing in periods of years where their 1st round picks were busts. In the NHL it just seems like more of a crapshoot then in other sports as to whether picks make it to the NHL.

LOL .. there's never many 18-19 year olds on an NHL roster and the ones that are there ............ were developed before they reached the NHL. Basically they are superstars. Yeah ........ an NHL coach is expected to bring their game to another level but for the most part ....... the draft picks are expected to be developed within the system first before the NHL team gets them.

The NHL coach is tasked for winning ...........

Have to invest in your top draft picks, rushing talent to sell tickets, or whatever dumb reason mgmt might have is the worst thing possible.

Its so crucial now to have you top picks pan out or else you could find yourself in a world of hurt over paying in cap or in trades for players to fill depth roles bc the cupboards are bare with NHL level talent

the only thing I remembered was a rumor that florida wanted to trade up with buffalo to land kulikov and that the sabres wouldn't do it...not sure why, they could've landed an extra pick
